Tesla S
Tesla S
I saw one on the road over the weekend. I know they aren't for sale yet, so it must have been an early Test car. Had Dealer Plates. My business partner has one of the Roadster models, so I have followed the company somewhat.
Check out the car

You can get 300 mile range and 0 to 60 in 4.4 seconds.I know, very pricey, but the car does look great.

I am in love with this car. Just looking at the specs and price sheet makes me excited for the future of electric automobiles (*which certainly wasn't always the case).
Interesting that I think the production model looks better than the original concept...gorgeous

I'm curious to see how well it does against the Karma. I also can't wait for TG or any car show to take the two head to head
As for the price? I still say it's expensive, but that is the price of being a beta tester of technology (in the form of a luxury car no less).

This and a 10 minute charge from empty to full plus 200k miles of longevity, oh and an infrastructure where charging ports are as prevalent as a gas station. Give me that and I'll be down for a coal powered car.

I know because my great uncle put 40k down as a deposit on a Model S Signature Sport

Can't wait till he gets it! I'll post pics! I'm sure he will let me drive it as well
He usually lets me
Just don't brick it.... The battery isn't covered if it's drained. It'll also set you back 40k just to replace the battery.

Do you charge your phone at night?
Yes, 40k is a BIG DEAL. Maybe not to those millionaires who drive a TL and hangs around online car forum...
Yes, I charge my phone at night. And I've also had dead phone batteries due to many reasons outside of my control.
I've also experience having dead car batteries. What is your point?
Running out of gas doesn't cost me 40k. Forgetting to charge my batteries doesn't cost me 40k. Swapping out a dead car or phone battery doesn't cost me 40k. My phone or car didn't cost me anywhere close to even 40k.

Tesla's are coal powered toys for peeps with $$$ to throw around on them.
It's gonna be a long while if ever they get to a price point, quality, and range point to be truly a mass market vehicle.

...and hopefully your uncle will park it outside and not in the garage.

Sure it's not a Fisker Karma, but these electric vehicles are prone to catching on fire.
Volts, Karmas, heck even the old Telsa Roadsters would catch fire.
If you value your house, don't charge 'em in the garage.

My business partner has one of the Roadsters. If I remember correctly, the recall was voluntary and it involved a 12V wire to accessories that got chaffed against some panel near the front headlight.
Had nothing to do with the engine/drive system.

yupp i never thought I'd like an electric car so soon... will post pics shortly. Their cell phone pics so dont expect much. But I was there when the rep was so I know a good amount about the car as he taught my great uncle and aunt the ins and outs of it.
When I got there delivery dude was already there

Such a nice color for the car
car was moved straight to the garage to be in the shade so now the pics at least from the front dont look so great

those headlights are nice!
interior shot, only buttons in the car are on the steering wheel, and door panels, and the emergency brake lights. Everything else is controlled through that monster of a screen

door handles are flush, and pop out when you touch it, if the keys in range. It also comes out automatically sometimes under certain situations i believe.

heres the key to the car

trunk and frunk

21" wheels

So I didnt get to drive it yet. When the rep was showing us the car my uncle decided to drive it and we ended up going to a chipotle near by. I didnt have my shoes or wallet so I couldnt drive on the way back -_-
then there seems to be something wrong with the charging wire for the car. The connector that plugs in seems to be loose or something cause it wasnt charging correctly. Sometimes you gotta push it hard or hold it a certain way. So they're having a new one shipped out tomorrow. They're hoping that its the connector on the wire thats bad and not the car. Otherwise its gonna need to be serviced... so the rep said not to drive it anymore till you can charge it. So lost my second chance to drive then.... whenever i see them again i'll get to drive it i guess haha
