I splooged. That race was simply awesome.
Thank you
I think there is a way to do that, but it wouldn't have helped. The built in launch control parameters should be near perfect.

My guess is that the LED tails are not constantly on but rather flicker on and off very rapidly (like most LEDs do), and the frame rate of the camera overlaps the frequency of the LEDs, so instead of them appearing to be constantly on we see them turning on and off. It's the same deal as when you videotape a TV and see it flickering or see the lines moving up and down it because of its refresh rate. The cameras are just catching the lights at the times when they are off.

Why would you talk trash about the Veyron... did you see the gadgets in the car? He also stated how much was in the veyron, but at the same time beats the F1. If you stripped the Veyron of it's luxury, it would literally fly =\.

For those of you who would like to see the McLaren F1 on a track, here's a Best Motoring video featuring the car at Tsukuba doing time attack with I believe Tsuchiya San behind the wheel:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fE2xDwEYkMU
For comparison that lap time is about the same as the NSX-R.

All I was saying was that your comment was very John Maddenesque (like when he'll say during a football game, "The QB's gonna throw the ball and the receiver has to catch it.") I was just kidding around

Veyron is more of a gt car, not for the track. It's also very stable at high speeds. When you look at James May driving the Veryon at 250mph, the car isn't even shaking though it's covering a football field every second. When I look at youtube videos of TT Vipers or Supras doing a quarter mile in like 7.99s, it's VERY impressive but the whole car is shaking like it's about to explode or something. Of course the Veyron is a million dollars but it's still an engineering marble IMO.
I wonder how well it will do against the FXX, granted it's not a road car but still, that would be epic.

Most LED's in tail lights are being driven with a constant current, there is no flicker at all. I know Mercedes and BMW now vary the brightness from normal to super bright in a panic stop, but I don't see any reason why you would flicker your LED's...
I believe that the tail light LED's were just displaying a pattern to indicate launch mode...
That or the Bugatti's got some VW electrical gremlins... haha

OK, did some reading online... looks like the lights flash like that when the Veyron is in launch mode.
Also looks like there is now a kit for the G37 to replicate this... except on the G37 they only flash when in reverse (since a G37 does not have launch control)

I've seen vids of Veyron lights doing nothing and vids of them all crazy like the one below. I think the camera taking the vid pics up the LED different as I don't see Bugatti adding this.
Blinking crazy.

When I was at the New York Auto Show last year, there was an R8 there, and when you looked at the taillights through the LCD screen on my digicam, they flashed. But when you looked at the taillights with your naked eye, they didn't look like they were flashing.

So the videos you posted pretty much confirm what I've read and posted

They look like crap in the first vid, a millioin dollar car can't have all the lights blinking all around out of sequence like that, maybe they do blink and the camera also distorts the vid.

As already said, the McLaren F1 is my favorite car as well. You have to remember, it was made in 1993!! That's 15 F'ing years ago! It took this long to make a Supercar that can beat it..well, the Koeniggsegg was in what, 1998? Idk but either way both of these cars are amazing and FINALLY they raced. I was waiting for this video..
Now I wanna see the CCX vs F1..
