On another note, I've never seen this before.
Top gear on 60 minutes

Top Gear Filming Its 'Most Ambitious Shoot Yet'
The new season of Top Gear (UK) begins its 20th series (or season, as we Yanks call it) next week, but that hasn't stopped plenty of leaks about what's coming up. Especially not a leak of this proportion – Jeremy Clarkson himself called it their "most ambitious shoot yet."
Filmed on the Mall leading up to Buckingham Palace, I see McLarens and Astons (including a McLaren P1 and an Aston Martin One-77), plenty of Bentleys and Rolls-Royces, a Bowler Wildcat, and whole bunch of Formula One cars lining up. Though you may think that just because one of the racers is from Force India or Mercedes GP it actually comes from the country that its branded with, most F1 cars are actually built in Britain.
It looks like it's going to be another absolutely epic series, and I, for one, can't wait.

The video above, sent to us by Tim from Shmee150 is a good look at what's going to appear in the gang's "Best of Britain" feature.— Jeremy Clarkson (@JeremyClarkson) June 23, 2013

I just finished Season 18 on Netflix.
I used to be anxiously awaiting each series and each episode.
I don't know what's happened to me ...
I'm glad they're introducing a new SIARPC vehicle this series. It seemed to have gotten flat by the end of Series 18.

It could also be 6 episodes + a summer special

6 episodes mean season 20 ends early/mid August. That would mean season 21 will return probably in November/December... if there is a season 21
I'm just happy the show's still running. Not like the guys are getting any younger.
4 days, 3 hours, 27 minutes, and 55 seconds until the next season of Top Gear starts on June 30th.
Some people forget the budget for this show isn't as big as it once was, either & that over time, the budget isn't being upped alongside the raising cost of getting cars, locations, etc. in order for them to film.
Yea six episodes is expected at this point. If you didnt, then you obviously dont love the show or you'd know!
Also like rick said its probably due to budget cuts. You dont really see it the budget cuts, but its probably a result of fewer high budget episodes than 10 lower budget ones.

That 60 minutes interview said the show has the BBC's second highest budget and banks something like $1-2 bilion (per season, all time? not sure) so I doubt they are making budget cuts.
My guess is the fact that these guys have other stuff going on and only WANT to do 6 or 7 shows a season. Hammond has radio stuff going on, May has other scientific/geeky shows going on, Clarkson is old and likes to eat and drink and work on that beer belly and I assume he also has other gigs.

My guess is that they are finally starting to have trouble coming up with new ideas. I mean think about it, they've done every race conceivable and there's only so much that hasn't been touched on. I imagine its pretty hard to come up with new material after 19 seasons...

I have read a couple articles stating that they go over budget quite often, so it's probable that the BBC has tried to reel them in a bit more. I imagine the road trips, esp. over seas tend to eat up large chunks of those budgets.
Regardless, I'm glad it's back once again & still going strong. I could listen to the three argue all day.
Just waiting for final gear to post it up....
ALso dont you guys forget that they do 2 season/year. So its kinda like 12 episodes/year. Which is just about how the older ones were when they popped up once/year? Assuming they did that.

Good episode, I'm just glad they're back!
Wish they used something more than a corolla, but then I guess they couldnt crash it like they did
I would have hated to be in James' position. Seems so miserable haha
