I got within miles of this place this summer. But with family that are easily car sick, I bypassed it.
Waze redirected us on a trip from my wife's hometown to Anaheim (Disney) & took us through Angeles Forest. Awesome road, but my kids were a bit green by the end. We stopped twice to let the traffic we were holding up pass us by. And we were running about 5 over the speed limit.
Would love to go back one day & drive it in a sporty car, the Flex was ok, but not what it's meant for.
I went there last year with fellow AZiner @SaaBaaDoo. It was amazing! We had a blast and I can't wait to get back to it someday. I brought my 10 y/o (9 at the time) with me and he still brings it up to me every once in a while.

This summer, I drove through the Shenandoah National Park. Beautiful scenery, and I drove at a very gentle 35mph speed limit. Yet I had to stop 3 times because the kids were car sick.
Great cars you have there. See some OG 18in Aspecs on the TSX.
I have been there several times. A couple of times in each of my cars. Used to go yearly for a few years but haven't been back now in a little while. Personally enjoy a lot of the other roads besides the dragon more. Hell bender is my favorite. Hopefully one day they repave the complete thing and it will be even better.
I'd been up that way a few times in my Type-S ... Tail of the Dragon, Cherohala Skyway, some other twisty roads around there (NC-281, US-64 North of Highlands, etc.).

@SuperTrooper169 I'm living in Chattanooga now, we'll have to do it again soon!
I made a trip up there this past Saturday for a Honda meet. It rained off and on throughout the morning, but the afternoon was mostly sunny and dry. We had a good time and there was no police presence on this trip.
This is the only photo that I have at the moment. I've purchased a few photos from the Killboy website and am now just waiting for the download link.
Wanna do it someday, preferably on a motorcycle. Friends have done it in cars and bikes, do it in the off-season.
Or from what I have read of others having been on it, you are better off on roads nearby so as to avoid all the nut cases.
Is there a rediculously low speed limit on it? I just wouldn't want some state police with mirrored sunglasses telling me, "boy, you're in a heap of trouble".

It's not too bad. Really tight turns so you can't go too crazy or you'll end up in the rocks or over the hilly side. There are better roads around like the skyway where you can carry some more speed and typically less traffic, but the dragon is awesome from the aspect of all the different cars and bikes that go up there. It's also fun to find a long pull-off, park, and get out and watch.
There are police up there regularly. You just pay attention to the bystanders or motorcycle riders, they'll tell you if there's one hiding around the corner. If not, well, you're screwed.
Hey dude! We love Chattanooga. Let's make it happen.
@SuperTrooper169 I recently got rid of the Hellcat and picked up a M4, so I'm definitely down for a spring trip!!! Excited to take a car up there that can turn well!

Two fellow riders I know did the Dragon, said it was fun and all. Went during the week, as the weekend is crowded according to the internet. No LEO's when they saw, the speed is not that high (30-50) BUT one of them low-sided and broke a bone in his foot when he when down the hill on a Sportster (not a great bike for the Dragon but that's another story, surprisingly little damage). A few people stopped to offer assistance including a handful of folks helping bring his bike back to the shoulder.

That's the thing with the Dragon, it's a public road so you get all sorts of morons either going too fast for what they're driving or the complete opposite, people driving 10 mph under the limit and holding up a line of cars. Both of which we experienced last year.
@SaaBaaDoo do you remember the Harley in front of us scraping the foot bar on the ground in the turns making sparks?

The latter is within their right (not that I like it) which is why I just go to the track and not bang my head against a wall. Passing with very short straights is asking for trouble. I'd probably go ballistic if some clown in his car or motorcycle drifted out of the turn into my lane and car.

That takes me back to my much yonger days when I'd drive around a traffic circle with the sparks coming off the pegs at night. Lost 1/3 of my new pegs that night.
Our group generally goes twice a year early spring & late fall. Less traffic off season & mid week. Its a overnight deal as we do the whole 120 mile Dragon Cherohala Loop. Getting harder with most of the cars having manual steering. Looks like another project.

+1, my youngest daughter's college roommate had a Miata she and her dad fixed up and said the same thing about the skyway and some other roads in the area. She felt the Miata was the perfect car for the Dragon due to it's weight/size/handling/steering and enough power.

Weld some straight beads onto the centerstand pads, then carefully put it down riding straight with a shower of sparks behind. Fellow rider did that, pretty amusing as he'd also switch off the ignition at high speed, with alot of throttle then switch it back on to get some impressive flames out the pipes. His sanity has been questioned a few times
A few of us M40i members plan on meeting up next year. The Phytonic Blue M40i pictured below has the following performance mods: Dorsch Stage 2 HPFP, Pure800 turbo, Catless downpipe, MST airbox, chargepipe, bootmod3 and X-HP. Claims it put down 587 wHP.
The other owner with temp tags took his 22 M40i in the stunning Brooklyn Gray color for a run as well.
