Congrats! It sounds like you're already much happier with this car than the Accord. Giving up some creature comforts for ergonomics/feel was a good call. I'm interested to hear your thoughts once you've covered break-in miles and can really get on it.

The best part of the road trip though was when I finally reached 600 miles. I waited until after we got home and had a chance to go on a grocery store run by myself. I did a slow rolling WOT to 70ish and it pulled so freaking hard! It was an absolute RIOT! It was torture waiting 600 miles to go over 4k RPM, but man it was worth it because when I finally did I was giggling like a school girl! It feels like a properly fast car. It pulled hard all the way to redline, which the Accord felt like it hit a wall around 5.5k RPM. I absolutely love the acceleration. The DCT shifts so fast and firm. It really lives up to the hype from all the online reviewers. It's a fantastic transmission so far. Comparing it to the Accords 10AT is like apples to oranges, it's that good.
That short little run really made up for some of the sacrifices, which there definitely are some. I'll get more into that once I've had more time with the car. But considering it's been insanely hot and humid here lately and the car performed that well, I can't wait for some cooler weather!!
I saw someone make a great point when comparing the Elantra N to the Accord 2.0T. He said the Accord is a family sedan that can feel like a fast car, but the Elantra N is a fast car that can feel like a family sedan. That's exactly my assessment so far. It leans much more toward the performance car realm than the Accord, which shouldn't come as a surprise.

Accord X to Elantra, I'd expect a much smaller back seat. A Sonata I'd expect closer in size with the Accord.
I do like a nicely bolstered seat, but I'm 6'0" 165lb

Yeah true, it's more comparable to the Civic platform, not the Accord, but YouTube reviewers like to exaggerate things and say there's tons of room in the backseat. There definitely is not.

Whats up with RDX owners?

I've noticed that most of those YouTubers are 5'7". Everything is full sized to them.

The Accord X is a bit of an outlier as well, as the back seat rivaled my 2016 F150 for rear legroom.

No back problems for me, just big boned. The Charger seats were just so unbelievably comfortable, so nothing will live up to those unless I spend $$$ on a luxury car.

Volvo seats are some of the best in the business.

Hmmm I do like Volvos. Maybe in a year or two I'll start digging. I'm gonna stick it out with the EN for a while I think.

If I were to go Volvo, it'd be either a V60 or XC60
But, their reputation precedes them on the reliability side.

It's the twin charged (turbo and supercharged) 2.0t that's a nightmare. Aside from sounding like crap, the transmissions really hold them back. It wouldn't be too bad with a dual clutch.

Nightmare in what regard? Overall reliability?

It definitely crossed my mind at one point, but I'm enjoying the almost double MPG right now. It would be hard to go back. This car is amazing me with its efficiency despite my fun thrashing of it. I went on an errand last night and on the way home I felt like the Stig on some local curvy backroads, and I've been engaging N mode a ton and I'm still averaging 25+ MPG. That matches the best all-time MPG I ever got in the Charger and that was on a long road trip pre-mods.

Thanks doods! I'm finally adjusting to the seats. I feel like they are breaking in a little bit. The car is just so much fun!

So happy you're getting to just enjoy driving the car. When I went from my Passat to the Focus ST I was shocked at how much of a difference there was in the driving experience.
FWIW, I'm a burly dude as well and the Focus Recaros did break in for me - I think it's reasonable to expect the seats to get more comfortable over time.

Haha I swear after getting frozen custard with the family the other night the seats felt tighter on the way home.

I wanted the DCT so my wife could drive the car in a pinch. I haven't had a manual in almost 10 years. I still love them, but now that I've experienced what a good dual clutch feels like it would be hard to go back to a traditional automatic. The EN's DCT is awesome, especially in manual mode with the paddles. It really feels a lot like a manual. Best of both worlds IMO.

But it is still not the same. My last 6mt was my 2013 335i... almost 10 years ago and my wife still finds my hand on my auto shift knob "grinding" like every time i drive i dont even realize doing it, especially before a turn in She would be like "what are you doing with your hand?"
