SUPER WIERD prblm on bro's H22A Lude... PLEASE HELP

k so my bro call me last night and he's on the side of the highway with no battery pwr.

1st i was like it's prolly the battery or the alternator.. so he got it towed to his nears buddy's house since he was 80 miles from home and today when he went to start it it now has battery power and everything works FINE???

NOTE* my bro said that on his way once it got dark AS HE WAS TURNING ON HIS HEAD LIGHTS the car instantly died!

ALSO NOTE* 2 years ago my bro was having a short in his headlight wiring where the bulbs would burn out after like 2 months... this happened for over a year then mysteriously went away.

NOW a year or so later this problem happens AS MY BRO TURNS HIS HEADLIGHT ON...???? WTF ????

So is there a link between the 2 or am I missing something.

Please guys this would be a serious help, I'm outta thoughts on what it could b and my bro is not machanically inclined.

Wiring issues of some sort i'm not assuming but where to start is BEYOND ME.

if you have the slightest clue as to wtf i should b looking for/at.. hit me up PLZ an THANK YOU

Check and clean the battery cable going from the battery to the alternator. Check all the grounds and clean the connections. Check the headlight wiring for stripped wires.

Has he ever messed around with the wiring? Have him turn the headlights on again while the car is running, just to see if it wasnt a coincedence.

does the car run now? try to repeat what happened last night. maybe a short and the alternator is working harder then need to and they just died, and when he went to use the lights, it took all the juice the battery had.

kk so bro calls me up and said his car died the MOMENT he turned on his head lights..

Then the battery wasn't giving power to anything.. the dash lights didn't light up. He left it off for 15 mins, then the dash lights Barely came on.. they were dim.

He gets it towed to a buddys house and then 2 hrs later trys it again and it starts as if NOTHING happened. He didn't turn the head lights on yet since he's 80 miles from home... we'll do that when he gets back.

we checked the battery a month or 2 ago and it was working great so i don't think it's that.

and cannot be the alternator cause his car is drivable... ie he's driving the 80 miles as I'm typing this.

So yea.. wiring somewhere I guess?? or SOMEHOW the connectors on the terminals are just being a bitch and it was a fluke..

BUT what gets me is he said the INSTANT he turned on the lights the car died.

NOTE* he was going through a headlight every month (burnt out) for about a year, 2 yrs ago and then one day this problem DISSAPPEARED INTO THIN AIR... SO i guess it was using too much pwr at one point.

I don't believe in coincidences so i'm thinking this is important info... cause his car died when he touched the headlights.

If the car died when he turned on the lights, then came back on two hours later without jumping it, then yea, its a wiring issue. Check all contacts first, then delve deeper into the wiring.

Check every single ground, and make sure it is making good contact. Make sure none of the ground cables are frayed.
