suggestions for a cheap luxury car with good MPG

im looking for a new car to travel and go on roadtrips that gets good mileage but i dont want to give up luxury.

basically what i want is good MPG, so itd probably have to be 4cyclinder..i really like leather and a nice interior as well.

so far all i have is a 2000 G20 which is a good option so far...cheap luxury but good mileage as well..

any other suggestions please? thanks.

Not sure what the budget is... but a first or second year TSX may fit the bill...

I'm kind of looking for the same thing as the OP but am not finding much....I'm 6'4 and it's tough to find something comfortable, reliable, cheap and good on gas.

Depending on budget an 03+ Accord EX-L I4 5MT might fit the requirement of comfortable, reliable, cheap, good on gas.

Sonata. (Probably the most bang for the buck)
Accord
TSX
Maxima
Camry

IMO a G20 is a little too small. It is based on the Sentra.

Try a First Generation Acura 3.5RL. It is great, bulletproof car that will last for years. You should be able to pickup a lower miles unit 2000-2004 for under $10k. We have '99 and it has been great. Just hit 175k miles and still going strong!! Looks almost like Mercedes S class. Often mistaken for MB which is good thing IMO.

TSX would be perfect. 4 cyl, good on gas, lots of luxuries, and good price. I get about 24 mpg around town with 2 mile trips to work, and up to 35 mpg on the highway.

I'd sell you my 04, but I won't be ready for a new car for another year or 2, probably.

those are all great cars, but most dont have really good mileage.

im looking for over 30mpg hwy...and preferally under $6K its gonna be just a traveling car so not looking to spend a lot.

i think ive got them down to solara, camry, accord, and g20....all 4cyclinder

does anyone know if these cars offer leather in the 4cycl option?

Agreed with TSX, the car looks awesome I never knew it has an i4 in it in till I Googled about the specs. It's a great car that I might even be thinking of getting myself down the road.

TSX gets over 30 mpg highway very easily, but probably can't find one for $6k. My 04 is probably worth about $9k on trade with 58k miles.

I don't do many road trips, but once I got 35mpg on a trip from NJ to DC going about 75mph, and that was with snow tires in January, and about 20 minutes of in-city driving in DC.

Problem #1 - 75% of those couldn't be considered "luxury" by any standard... and the G20 is questionable at best in the "luxury" category.

Problem #2 - Solara's are pretty small, not sure if that matters, but it has bad rear window visibility and the back seat is only good for a small cooler or "carry on" type of bag for road-trippin, not people.

1st gen RL gets about 23 to 26 mpg on the freeway.

Insurance is cheap, they're reliable and you can grab them for low prices. Saves you money for gas

Why pay $4000 more for a hybrid to save gas?

Just get a 4 cylinder LE and have a trunk thats 50% bigger

My wife's 2000 G20t had heated leather seats, got 30+ MPG in mixed driving and was absolutely bullet-proof reliability wise. We loved that car.

handling was fine, not great - but with a 4 cylinder engine that point is moot. The only thing I didn't like was that the turning radius was terrible.

It was as reliable as a car can come - granted this was back in 2003 and 2004, but it was really a great car for the 30k miles we had it until someone plowed into it when it was parked and totaled it.

It was our second of what is now our fourth Infiniti in a row, so obviously we've had great luck with all of our Infiniti's. I can't think of one non-wear-and-tear item that needed to be fixed on the G20t. It was basic, but flawless and frankly, I thought it looked great with the touring package.

Honestly, I've been looking to pick another one up again just to use as a DD so I can get an S2000.

Cheap and luxury don't belong in the same sentence

I would think a TSX or accord is a good option, but you aren't going to find many for under 6K, 1st gen 2.2 or 2.3 CL perhaps

98 2.3CL 5spd is your best bet IMO, 97's have the shitty hub over rotor brake setup

It gets the same as the TL. The TL WILL get over 30 mpg on the hwy. I have gotten 450-500 just about every time i did all hwy.
