The V70R is a fast SOB. And is much larger than the Subie. I had a V70 for 5 years, and it was an awesome car, with minor wiggles that were covered under warranty (thermostat, a window motor, and an interior switch. Dealer was happy to do the work and gave out a loaner).

That being said, the new Forester is a nice ride, just a bit narrow.

Buy what you need.

After some time on the muddy dirt roads around Shenandoah, she's a little less sparkly..

I'll get some interior pics up in a few.

SS, I know you said you don't want the moonroof..any particular reason? I love how airy the interior feels with it. It's a very roomy cabin anyway, but with the extra large moonroof, I'm in loooove.

Oh, and yes, I know my retaining walls need new stucco.. :P

I think she needs some fogs, and a new shift knob. The shift knob is seriously fugly.

Looks pretty good, the light red color suits it very well, and I'm a fan of Subaru's interiors unlike most people... Good choice, it's something a sensible umm person from MD would choose.

Thanks, all! I like the color, too. It's a nice, not-too-loud red. The ride height of both front seats is pretty low. I've got the driver's seat cranked up as high as it will go, and still feel like I would like it just a bit higher, but I'm quickly getting used to it. It doesn't interfere with visibility, just feels lower than I'm used to. I've got oodles of remaining head room! (I'm 5'5" - fairly average height for a lesbian.)

So, yes, with the passenger seat being of fixed height in this model, I'd like to see it sitting a bit higher. It's not something glaring, or even that I'd complain about. Just one of those "perfect world" fixes.

Thanks for the pics! I was curious if anything was different just because the U.S. option packages are put together very differently than the Canadian packages for this car. Congrats!! And yeah, the shiftknob is pretty ugly...rather, "bland"...I remember that.

I guess I'd opt out of the moonroof (although it's not possible) because I don't use it enough to justify the cost. I'd much rather put that money towards other options that I'd appreciate more, or save the money all together. Plus, although this cabin feels very roomy and airy, without any pillars blocking your forward vision, there are often times - with other cars - I'd rather have the extra head room than the ~2" the moonroof impedes on the interior/lowers the headliner.

True or not,

Nice car. I saw them at the dealer here pre-rollout. Does the US market offer the turbo model? Here they do.

Average height, maybe. But have you had the suspension adjusted? Your feeling may be hurt like this poor woman's, but it's for the best.

You would be nuts to not want the moonroof in the Forester. It's huge and one of the best things about it IMO. Headroom is not an issue.

It was a strong selling point for me, too.
BUT, I'm not married to a gentle giant, like she is. I forget about things like that, living in my blissful short-person world. SS, has Dan sat in the one w/ the moonroof? Just wondering if it's an issue in the Forester. In my old TSX, I can certainly see wanting the 2 inches back if I were taller; but I've consciously looked around this cabin several times thinking "whoa." I know..eloquent, yeah?

I actually love it more every day. No kidding, I'm sad to be on call this weekend because I had to drive the work truck home instead of the Subie. Yes, I am pathetic, I know.

I don't really miss the TSX, surprisingly. Maybe a smidge when I see others on the road, but it passes quickly.

Not pathetic at all.... I'm pathetic if anything. I sometimes drive my car just for the hell of it if I'm bored and haven't driven anywhere myself for a day or two. I can't stand driving a car other than my own for 4 days or more.

And to think I used to have a 2G TL-S, a very nice car. But I don't miss it.

^What are you driving now IGTC?

I have the iPod interface installed now, and it's really good. Not very intuitive to learn all the dash controls, but you get a lot of control without having to reach for the iPod itself. I rarely listen to anything else in my car, so that was a no-brainer buy for me, and I'm very happy with it.

Also, maybe (probably) due to the cloth seats, but these seat heaters heat up WAY faster than any others I've used. Couldn't be happier about that! And with the absolutely ridiculous turn radius, she's super easy to park & navigate through parking garages when I have to head east instead of west.

So, how many times have you been hit on by women with crew cuts in the parking lot of Wegman's loading up your organic groceries?

Wegman's is that far? I'm from Rochester, NY and remember Wegman's being the up and coming grocery store. Now it's a California-Lesbian-Democrats dream.

And there is something about a Subaru. With the newer ones (2004 and up), that once you drive one, other cars just seem not as good.

an 02 Camaro Z28

I guess I never really needed all those luxury features in the TL.... it was much easier to install an iPod interface in my car than the TL too. Never gets that cold here so that seat heaters were rarely used. I like cloth seats too, as you noted, they breathe much better. In CA it gets pretty damn hot in the summer and unless you have ventilated seats though once in a while you get static shocks. My car came with cheap-o vinyl seats but they're comfortable and hold up well, not a single rip or noticeable wear mark yet *knock on wood*

The Camaro did earn me a ticket though. Never got one in the TL, almost did but got let off.

Wow, it would be just like looking in the mirror! No Wegman's in the 'burg, though.

Interestingly, I think the Lesbians are generally more impressed by the F350 & the arm-up-the-horse demo, though.

Nice. I'm impressed you've only gotten one! I was kind of hoping the Subie would slow me down a bit; and maybe it has some, but I find I still manage to drive too fast. And I keep looking for 6th. Der.
