Subaru WRX reliabilty

I was thinking about getting rid of the TL and going the turbo AWD route. What do you guys think of WRXs and their reliabilty, any other suggestions?

TIA

They are reliable just have to worry about if the previous owner beat the hell out of it or not. I was gonna get the Wrx wagon but that was just instilled in my head about previous owners who are usually teenagers.

My buddy's WRX STi hasn't had many problems in the year or so that he's had it. Mechanically it's solid.

He's got assorted cabin rattles and has trouble finding rubber floormats. He was also having problems with the outside mirrors and the electronics on the rear-view mirror, but I suspect that was due to his self-install of a stereo system.

He's also gone through a set of tires already, which I think is quick, but he drives it pretty fast, as would anyone.

He also says the dealer service is shit, too. But even after these little things he's still all smiles.

Just imo of course, but I think I'd take a Legacy 2.5 GT over a WRX. Seems a little more refined to me, and since you're coming from a TL I have to assume you're interested in refinement, at least a little. Then again there is a couple grand price difference. Don't get me wrong, the WRX's are fun cars, but the Legacy is the first car from Subaru that I was actually really comfortable in. Cheers.

I wouldn't worry about the car's reliability. I would however be worried about how the previous owner drove the car. (If it's used). If it's new, shouldn't be a problem

Wasn't subaru 2nd in the reliability rankings last year? I havent heard about the reliability issues at all. I do; however, agree with those that suggest the Legacy as a better TL replacement than the WRX. The WRX is way smaller in the front seat than you'd think. And the Legacy is really making a positive name for itself.

Whenever I think Subaru, I think reliability and fun along with it, so you're on the right track. Most of these guys are right, the new Legacy looks hot and is a little more refined, but if you want balls-out power and mod potential, the WRX or STi will do it for ya.

Subaru's in general are pretty reliable. Definately underrated too. Depending on my situation, my next car would probably be a WRX wagon to replace my xB. I was looking at it before the xBox, but decided to get the Scion because it was cheaper and "different" looking.

my friends subbie

1983

thing had well over 150k hard miles. we took that thing blasting down a quad trail at 30+ mph and it survived minuse the tire.

still ran fine intil he rolled it in his farm and it wouldn't move.

other friend had a legacy and he had well over 200k mile and hes owned it since new. just died recently.
