There aren't many luxury coupes as nice as the 3rd gen TL that not only doesn't look out of place on a track with Evo's and GTRs.

For such a heavy car, it's surprisingly flat around that corner.

Looking great dude!

Which sways would you recommend? I might consider if my budget allows.

The NT05's were awesome. Very grippy.

Of course I have sways on mine. The front is stock (27.2mm, solid bar), and I have the Progress RSB in the rear (24mm, hollow bar), set in the stiff setting.

This never made sense to me, sure it makes the car "feel" better by adding just the rear, but it really does nothing to help handling. The front still leans and rolls over, which you dont want. Does progress make a matched set front and rear? If so get the front from them. H&R makes an adjustable 28mm bar, Dont know if Eibach does?

Yes, they do. But, it is A LOT of work to install it.

Nice pics...I was at that event too. I saw your car, but didn't think it would be someone from here.

Here's a video of my best lap of that day.

Almost all cars are designed to understeer from the factories because it's easier for the normal drivers to correct than oversteer. Upgrading to a stiffer rear swaybar will reduce the understeering characteristic, therefore helping the handling of the car as well. When you upgrade the front swaybar to a stiffer one, you ultimately introduce the understeering characteristic back into the car. If you talk to many hardcore track junkies who drive FWD cars, they'll tell you to just upgrade the rear swaybar.

All the track monsters over at mazdaspeed forum have both front and rear sway bars upgraded..

but those members who hit the track once every often just have their RSB done.. the FSB is very time consuming to install for our cars too.

Change the RSB, stiffen up the rear end, this way if you push the car too hard, the tail will let out and you can still control your slide through a turn. Also known as Oversteer.

Change the FSB, stiffen up the front end, and when taking a turn too hard, front wheels will break loose in a turn and you're headed straight for the wall. Also known as Understeer.

FWD cars are notorious to understeer, and by adding a stiffer FSB will only amplify it.

Which scenario would you choose?

Times are here, select the date, then the run group to download the time sheets.

http://www.extremespeedtrackevents.com/event-lap-times

Unfortunately, it only shows the names. No car info, and only those who requested the transponders would have times shown. Those who didn't.....well, didn't get timed. From looking at princelybug's pics, he might not have the transponder on.

Unfortunately, I've been trying to get him to go to the track for 2+ years, but he's yellow.

No, I did not get a transponder. It would only make me more depressed and desirous of a more sporty car.

I am a hard core track junkie. Most upgrade both. Sure it helps just the rear but that does nothing to help keep the front level. If they are designed as a matched pair you will have less understeering than before, a car that corners more level is one that handles better. I can induce oversteer with my TL very easy between adjusting the suspension, psi and swaybars.

Not necessarily true. See above. Most that are big into lapping days (like myself) and auto x with FWD will add both. You will have a much more neutral car that corners level (which means faster) where you can dial in oversteer and understeer with simple PSI and suspension adjustments.

That is the car i would much rather have, and do have. Which would you choose?

Why? with the right setup (suspension adjustments) and if you havent spent much time doing it some seat time there is no reason you cant run with many cars out there. My last lapping day i was quicker than the 2 3 series and 1 08 M3 that was running. Only cars that were faster than me were running R compounds.

Well, although my TL corners well for what it is, it still exhibits considerable nosedive. I've done a number of track days, but, when you go an average of once every 4-5 months, it forces you to "relearn" not only your car, but also some driving skills to a certain extent. If I could afford it, I'd go road racing every month.

Also, I've wanted a RWD car for the past couple of years, since I've never owned one. I drove my friend's S2K around the track and I fell in love with it. It didn't help my quell my desire for a RWD car.

BTW, maybe the reason you passed the Bimmers is because they don't know how to drive. On a serious note, I've observed numerous Bimmer drivers on track days that don't go 10/10th's. They want to preserve their car, so they'll go 7-8/10's.

Yeah, what I learned from mazdaspeed forum is that you are supposed to swap out both front and rear sway bars, and then play with the setting to find a sweet spot or something.

Make the car handle neutral. Getting it to behave the way you want to is much easier to adjust from there with tires and suspension rebound and damp settings.

RWD is good, and you can have fun with it. But there is no reason you cant keep up with them with FWD (comparable cars)

Oh, and they know how to drive.

With the additon of only an RSB on the 3G TL-S, this is exactly my experience - reduced understeer and tail-happy if jump off the throttle mid-turn (not "regular" tail-happy, but "really" tail-happy".

I think the point of upgrading both front and rear sway bars is mostly to raise the threshold where your car breaks loose.

Princelybug, have you looked at Cusco? I know they make a front brace for the TSX that also fits the 7th gen Accord. They might make something applicable to your car as well
