Steering Wheel Emblem Resurface
Steering Wheel Emblem Resurface
Ok guys...I've read enough on this topic to make my head spin. What I've learned is the following:
1. Armorall and other cleaner eat away at the emblem
2. You cannot replace the emblem without jacking with the airbag, or trying to be a brain surgeon. Which I'm not about to attempt.
3. One can try to use model paint, but there is not real chrome paint in the market..Closest is Alclad (spray) with a black lacquer/ or enamel base. My issue with this I do not have a spray gun, nor do I want to invest in one. Furthermore, I do I'm afraid of the over spray, or the spray bleeding into the leather of the steering wheel. I've seen the link for brushing on model paint but think it may look like dog crap.
Here is an idea that I'm going to try. Found the idea from some model guys. It is chrome plating film (link below). If it turns out like poo, I'll just sand and remove. As a last resort paint. I'll try to post pics..Link:

Negative..I have nothing to sell.. I'm trying to find a viable solution that doesn't look like crap. Granted I'm new to this site. It just purchased a 05' RL and love it; however, every time I step into it and have faded up emblem in my face I wanna puke. This stuff has been around for a long time judging by the website. My concern is durability and trying to contour to the the emblem. Anyhow I'll post once it get the film. If it works out sweet, I plan on try to sell it for 10 fold.

I'd be all over that BUT...those plastic tabs on the back are incorporated into the airbag. You can't just replace the emblem without jacking with the airbag. The dealer will not even do from what I understand
