Spring Fest 6

My 2nd annual Spring Festival of LX. And this is has quickly become one of my favorite annual events.

This year we got so big the event was held the old El Toro Air Base. A location used for a lot of racing and scca events.

And Dodge's presence was huge, including that of Ralph Gilles who was there walking around meeting everyone.

My day started with a busted garage, which made me late and I was unable to drive in with my club. But in my tardiness I ended up playing with a IS-F in traffic who thought my rush meant we were racing. The dude would never even look over at me for me to give him a thumbs up...He just acted douchey and finally after about 20 minutes of fun he got so mad he couldn't lose me that he just drove like a full retard, bombing through the HOV lanes, veering over 3-4 lanes of traffic back and forth just to find holes to get away from me. Of course when he started that shit, I let off and let him go. No need to be that stupid.

The show itself was outstanding. About 1000 LX based cars from all over the country here in one place. A free catered BBQ lunch that was quite tasty and many events.

Dodge had LOTS of new models on hand to look at, sit in, admire. Samuel Hubinette was there with his Drift Challenger and Viper to give drift performanes through out the day.

Samuel and Ralph both raced Charger RTs through a time trial course, and for $20 bucks that goes to a donation, you could try and beat their times. OR you could stand in line on the other side and test drive all new Charger RTs, V6s, 300Cs, V6s, and the Durango.

I drove the Durango and the v6 300...And I walked away impressed by both. It was small tight autoX style course and the Durango does not feel its size one instant, and body roll was minimal, it drove so well. The v6 300, also impressive, minimal roll, nice pick up on the new 3.6 pentastar.

Of the new cars, they were all nice. The 200 in person looks good, the 300 looks great. I always loved the Durango and the new Charger...the SRT Charger is just sick, they even had a Fiat 500. They had a couple of the new S line of the 200s and 300s...one of the 300s was a STOCK matte silver/grey color with red leather that actually looked really good.

PortlandRL was in town and dropped in say hello. If anyone thinks I'm just a big Dodge zealot now, I think he can speak of what he saw in terms of quality. He even drove the 300C on the track.

My club made a huge showing and we had a few of the new limited edition 392 Challengers...one of Co-presidents having the #2 car.

We also the #1 of 10 Kowlaski edition 392 Challengers. This is a special edition being made through Dodge by a particular dealer with very close ties.

All in all great day.

I thought the magnum was pretty unique. I could live without the spikes and skulls.

I really just the dug the "used" look to it...I always kinda dreamed of a paint scheme like that ala the millenium falcon.

But I would never do it. I give kudos to that guy for making it happen.

Cool to see the Chrysler 200 and 300 sitting side by side with the same finish on them.

The 500 is interesting... never knew it had a console-mounted shifter, I'm a sucker for cars like that. Great shots, though I still think the huge snout on the Charger should have been toned back a little and the door indent should have been pushed closer to the front wheels.... but other than that it looks great.

I'm not an SUV guy at all (I can appreciate design though) but I really like the new Durango and Jeep GC.

Also, reading about Ralph Gilles, he seems like a cool guy to be a CEO. You don't see a CEO as enthusiastic and involved with their product as he is that often.

Thanks to Dave for inviting me out. As I said in the SWEDT thread, he's a really nice guy but there's no bullshit there either. He calls it like he sees it and nothing more.

I will agree, though...the quality offered by these cars is superb. The materials are excellent and though they may look like the same cheap plastic in pictures, they are fantastic in person. If I had $45,000 to blow on a new SUV, I'd get the Grand Cherokee Overland with the 5.7 liter V8.

The Magnum owner must travel to shows around the US...Just about a month ago I saw that magnum at a local show.

Awesome pics David. I'm a fan of most of Dodge's current lineup. I like most of those cars.

And at that supercharged Challenger!

Great pics dude. I actually like the "aged" Magnum. Was there any shine on the paint or was it flat?
