A lot of modern cars have that valve (called a clutch delay valve) that prevents you from dropping the clutch and breaking stuff. Basically dampens the engagement of the clutch a bit. Who knows if the MG has something similar since it doesn't really make enough power to break anything lol.

You're not wrong. Main thang that lets go, from what I've read, is if you start adding power to it stock, they tend to shear the splines on the halfshafts in the rear end.

Well, the TL has that checkvalve but it's ON the slave...
so when you bleed you kinda avoid it.
On the Corvette it's INLINE on the line I believe.
Also, I waited on the S4 and the brake fluid was actually gummy...guaranteed that was part of my sticky caliper.

Weird that it's on the slave, never seen that one before. Always thought it was in line haha.

Brake fluid is one of the most overlooked service ever. Speaking of which I need to do the brake fluid on my cars.

Might do a thing....
Neighbor has a [67 I think] MG B. Been buried in his garage since well before we moved into this house (1.5 yrs now).
Saw this morning that it was pushed into the driveway with a cover on it.
If he's looking to sell it, may pick up a 2nd, or see if my dad wants to snag it.

If it's one thing that is always accurate about MG owners, it's that they never have just one. Do it! What's the condition?

Best I know, from talking to him.
Currently not running, needs some body work, but he has replacement panels.
It's a pastel yellowish color, and has retrofitted AC [probably R12]

If he is in fact getting ready to sell & wants to let it go for cheap, I may stash it at my dad's, or maybe split it with him, since it likely needs a lot more work than Midge needs & would take up a good chunk of his shop.

good candidate for a swap!

@SamDoe1 yeah, odd design.
I never bother with brake fluid but I will now...that was wild as hell...I really think it was causing my sticky caliper...when I bled it was like I had to push past something...
I did new lines, rotors, pads and fluid.

The fluid is one of those things that isn't a problem until it is. Great idea to change it out...I need to follow your lead!

At the office for some weekend server maintenance. Mild weather, so took the Midget.
Need to break out the top cover. Got about 3/4 here & had it nearly unfold the top at 70mph
With how the top folds on these, you lay it out on the trunk as you pull the top down, then roll it over the top of the frame & tuck it behind the seatbelt spools. Just enough neg pressure to pull it up.
They also make straps that snap in to the top bas & 2 snaps on the rear deck, might go that route for short trips where I don't plan on leaving the top down. Day like today would've been perfect for the nicer full cover.

1.) I'm surprised it got to 70mph
2.) I'm jealous, it's like 12F outside here right now.

I've had it a bit over 74mph, once. She's screaming at that speed. 70mph is around 4k rpm

We're sitting around 61* right now. A bit unseasonably warm, but I'm sure the 'cold' isn't far off.

Got her out for the first drive of the year. Needed dog food, and the weather is fantastic [rain forecast for tomorrow], so I ran her up to Tractor Supply. Got a couple compliments from the cashiers as I walked in, along with a "what is that?".

Plans this month are to do the conversion to an electric fuel pump & route a crankcase vent off the blockoff plate for the mech pump.
We'll see if the extra CV helps with the small oil leak I have [which seems common with Weber equipped 1500s].

If not, will plan for a engine/trans pull & reseal/gasket refresh.

Have a guy a couple hours away that has a Mk3 grille & 1500 4spd, need to find some time to get up there & get them. I've got a 2nd gear grind, so having a spare trans to refresh & swap in would be nice.

Also got around to fitting the deck cover yesterday [covers the top when it's down & looks much better].
Drove it to work last month on a Saturday morning & had the top try to suck out of the cabin at 70mph.
The deck cover needs some work. The tenax snaps on the driver's side are great & the interior snaps are all good.
The passenger side is missing a tenant & another is in the wrong spot. None of the rear snaps will seat.
Fitted it prior to taking it out this morning, no catastrophe at 60mph with the rear snaps loose, so that's promising that it'll at least keep the top secured as is.

Glad to see you getting this out there. My dad had a cover on his MG that covered the interior when the top was down and allowed him to unzip the drivers side so he could drive and still have the cabin covered. Hard to explain and have never seen anything like it sense, is it an MG thing?

Tonneau cover. I've been keeping an eye out for one. New they're $$$
Would really be handy to not have to get the top up/down all the time.

^ Can you make one out of some marine vinyl?

Ditto for the missing/broken straps. Can probably DIY some straps that look and work better than what some Englishmen in a shed cobbled together 30-40 years ago.

Probably. I've thought about fabbing up some straps that would go from the rear snaps to the interior snaps to secure the folded top.
But, it does look much better with the deck cover on. May need to just make some repairs/mods to it to get it to work properly. Need to see if the rear snaps are just seized & keeping them from attaching.

I thought that was what it was called, he drove well into the winter with the top down and the heat pumping under that thing.

With that part of the 'yard' being double gated, it collects a bit of leaf litter. Less since building the cover for the Midge.
Raked the back yard & filled 15 39gal contractor bags, luckily this week was heavy trash pickup

Said 'make me an offer' Was hoping to get at least a starting number from him.
Need to get over there & get a good look around it, more than the cursory look I've given it before. If I can do it for cheap, might grab it.

Measured & the B should fit, with about 2 ft of buffer room between the gates & cars [combined], so a bit of a tight squeeze. Could also relocate the rear fence/gate to gain some length, and would need to extend the roof over them as well.

Have to catch the guy outside & get a better look around it first. Then try to get a ballpark $ out of him to see where his mind is on it.
The B would probably be a longer process, especially with it not currently running. And I think it needs some body work as well.

EcoBoost probably a cheaper setup to obtain. RWD with a 6MT from a Mustang. I'm sure F20/22 are $$$ like their donors seem to be.
Real challenge is getting it all working properly without some of the sensors & such.

GM LFX could be an option too, I know there have been a lot used in Miatas. NA 3.6 V6 with 300hp

No photos, but I had removed the passenger door mirror a while back, as the post tension was lacking & it was pretty useless in motion as it would work its way to pointing at the ground.
Had some downtime with the rain on Saturday & pulled the mirror out, to find that there's 2 screws on the bottom of the housing to tighten the fit between the post/housing. Snugged it up & reinstalled, still fairly useless when you're used to modern reduced magnification passenger side mirrors, but good to have both again.
Found that I can source just the mirror glass in reduced magnification. Might get 2 & do both doors with them. At $12, it's a cheap & easy experiment in getting better visibility [for me].

Will have to have a custom mini sticker made. Most modern cars have: "Objects in mirror are closer than they appear" or something along those lines.
I'll need: "Objects in mirror are larger than they appear"
