I find it funny that some Prius owners say they bought their car because they love the environment, yet they fail to realize where their batteries were made and the damage to the environment they are causing:

This is the "skeleton in the closet" that all of the hybrid buyers do not want to talk about, or don't understand. getting the rare earth elements to make these batteries is dangerous for the people AND the environment, then there is the waste (old leftover batteries).
If you buy one of these thinking you're helping the environment, you need to do some research.

The article also implies that nickel mining is evil, it could be but nickle gets used in a whole lot of other other things than NiMH batteries. Stainless steel relies on it, that article looked more like a anti-environmental hatchet job than real science.
