So I think I've been converted.

Yesterday, I was in the area of the car dealership where I bought my VW, so I thought I'd drop by and see what he has in stock now. The car that peaked my interest slightly was a 96 BMW 328i... Great condition but over 200 000 kilometers... Since I bought a car from him, he knew me and let me go by myself for a test drive (had a buddy with me) we get out on the road and after it warmed up I see what its got (The dealer specifically told me to push it to really appreciate it)... Even though it doesn't have loads of power from the inline 6, it will still get sideways around a corner, and that right there is probably the nicest feeling you can have in a car.

It's just something you don't get from a front wheel drive car ... It was a business complex so very few cars were around, the road ended into a court, so I go to make the turn around and I punch it, the car is sideways but so controllable. Now I can fully understand the appreciation for rear drive cars.

The power delivery was different from what I was used to, not having the steering wheel pull to one side under hard acceleration was really nice.

I had a really good time driving around a 190 HP car, I can only imagine what driving an S2000 or GT500 is like... (When I say driving, I mean really driving it)

Needless to say, come Spring time, a rear drive car will be my first priority.

people preach specs all day long, track times, quarter mile, etc... but the driving dynamic of a RWD car makes driving worth while. I'd be hard pressed to go back to FWD, period.

Test drove a G37 coupe 6MT ... first time with a real torque-y RWD ... with the traction control off ... that thing can get really squirrelly with OEM tires. It's scary fast ... yet fun at the same time. I just have to shift better to fully appreciate MT cars...

Yeah, that's what I was saying, I'd love to get behind the wheel of a Mustang or something with some more power, but also something affordable (under 10k)...

Mustangs & F-bodies are all over for $10k or less.

Money is not the issue, space is the issure... I already have 2 cars, one would have to go but I don't want to get rid of either...

I just drove an 88 Rx-7 an honestly wasn't impressed. The car was clean, 100k, clutch was as light as a feather. It was fun to drive only because of how small and low it feels, something I'm not used to, but the power wasn't really there, or it wasn't what I was expecting. I'm sure it could be hella fast but it's not for me.

Looked exactly like this, convertible, same rims and black:

Sounds like you're looking for torque and 0-30 rather than peak HP. >> F-body V8 or Mustang GT.

Not necessarily. Torque is just as good as peak HP, when I can find a car that gives me both I will be happy.
