So i started first session in Novice class but then i was move up to Intermediate, less traffic faster pace, more fun. Best $150 i have ever spent
i got some video from a go pro that i borrowed for event and unfortunately audio setup wasnt right so RIP headphone users.
I absolutely pushed the car to the limits which was the brakes and front tires loosing a grip from overheating which was caused by slight understeer from my staggered setup but im working on fixing that
well videos i got 3 of them it was a blast i definately recommend to everybody that wants to do this sort of thing
Freaking noobs in the miata and GT-R.. get out of the way!
They couldn't find the line if it was painted down their forehead.
Great vids Street! You're tearing it up out there. You're going to need new BF, Rotors and Tires soon if you keep having that much fun.
Well i had some problems with understeer with staggered CTSV wheels but i stiffened rear koni's and there is an improvement but not enough for me... im looking into rear swaybar more front camber and 10mm spacers, proper performance alignment would help too. Tires took the beating especially front left, i was pushing it pretty hard and ran out of brakes at the end of the straight and i was forced to to let the traffic by especially angry guy in silver Corvette.
i have extra 17" wheels that i wanted to use for winter setup 17x8 but i think it would serve ok for track just wish it was wider or i may sell them and buy another one 18x9 since the widest tire in 17" is 255
on the other hand i spoke to the guy at Cars and Coffee in Long Island this past sunday, he's trying to sell his old almost finished spec '95 miata for like $4000, it needs roll cage and new tires, it is tempting because i really like that fun and i want to do this more often. Miata is great fun car but its so damn slow.
yeah cars react differently to staggered setup...in talks with Morgan and Meko recently, both of them mentioned the FRS/BRZ handles like poop when you put a staggered setup on there...
do you think you will need tires wider than 255? some nice pilot sport cups in 255 will be plenty? no? (curios here and not challenging ya, wanted to make it clear before the wrong conclusion gets drawn)...
The 17" setup will be lighter and considerably cheaper, so if 255 wide tires works, I would stick with a square 17" setup

On my first Auto X i had massive understeer, well then i found some good stuff
from friends and internet how to fix it what to do to make it handle a little better.
then i start looking at my options my problem was that the tire rolling over the rim was pretty bad, i did raise the pressure up front to stiffen the side wall of the tire and stiffened up rear koni shocks to help the understeer(thats the easiest adjustment you can do without spending any extra money), that helped but im thinking more camber and 15mm spacers up front, rear swaybar. It's alot to fun to drive a car but also to prepare the car and see that what you did made a difference
I would change your brake fluid after each session.
That would be overkill... Autocross is not nearly as hard on the brakes as track day. I would say bleed it before you come and that should be plenty enough.
They say that stepping up with autocross tires shaves like 3 seconds of your run. That would put me in between pretty competitive cars. what's killing me is my class or should I say a PAX for the class. I have to 've in STU or CAM C because I have lowering springs... There was guy in Camaro SS stock everything but 305/30/20 tires all around. Running almost 4 seconds faster than me... And he was in FS class which is stock...

Nooooo super overkill!

ohh btw totally forgot to mention, I read those 2 links you gave and adjusted my tire pressure and suspension and woah, the car handles a ton better
funniest thing is that this whole AutoX thing changed my thinking into totally different direction... suspension/tire/grip first before engine mods
i could not believe how much different my car handled this time, what i did is i soften a front a little bit and stiffened the rear i also changed the tire pressures from running 40psi all around to 41psi front and 36psi rear that changed the balance completely and made the car easier to rotate. i had so much fun and no im seriously thinking about getting some beater...

Yep! That's exactly how my thinking changed after my first track day. The mods that actually make the most difference is the tires/wheels/suspension set up. It's amazing how faster you can drive with the changes. It's much less riskier as well. Playing with the tire pressure is so fun at the track! My car is so much faster than FRS/BRZs with +$4K engine mods.. haha
well just for AutoX am not sure I would get a beater...now if you dedicate the car to the track, a beater might not be a bad idea
but yeah, for my FWD and nose heavy TL,
I made the rear stiffer (preloaded it a bit more), dampened (26 out of 32) it more....the front was preloaded a bit less and softened up (18 out of 32)...the front PSI is at 33 and the rear is at 37...and holy WOW...I thought my car handled well before but WOW...
I signed up for an AutoX event which is around the end of the month! Lets see how that goes
GTR V SPEC Midnight Opal Black paint job, i was supposed to pick it up saturday but car still needs to be detailed and rear bumper needs to be redone but i saw it and i am still picking up my jaw off the floor
