So I found a really old picture
So i found a really old picture of one of my dad's cars he used to have before he sold it back in the day. He doesn't remember what it was and my friends (who know a lot about cars) can't seem to identify it either...
I was thinking some kind of lotus elise or something, but maybe one of you will have luck

The car itself almost looks to be of a quasi-Porsche 917. Some time and thought went into it, as it appears to be tube framed with some type of transaxle behind the engine.

Appears to be a chevy v8 from the exhaust, alt up from, distributor in back..
Corvair engines were aircooled flat sixes...
Right, I should have clarified, the Avengers sometimes had Corvair motors at least the ones I've seen.
It looks a little like a 917 kit car from the front, but the lights are different on a 917. The back half of the car is very unique. Do you know what year the picture was taken? I'm guessing between '68-'75

Very unlikely it has any Lotus in it. And definitely not an Elise since, as far as I know, that model was introduced in 1996, and that does not look like a car from 1996. Maybe 1976 judging by the other cars as well as the General Lee wheels...
It's a kit car based on either a VW Bug or Corvair chassis, but not by any of the better or still-existing body manufacturers like Mirage, Fiberfab, etc. based on the visible body gaps, seams and joints in the photos.
Other than that,
There were kits using all sorts of running gear with those chassis, everything from the stock VW 4s to full-race 427 c.i. side-oilers.
The photo looks like it was taken in the early- to mid-70's based on the cars in the background. The wheels look like American Racing "Vectors" or Vector knock-offs.
