Glad you dug it...cool to see the potential.
I swear, first time I saw one at the local mountain bike trails...I actually thought "wow, new CRX" and that was from a distance. I love the look...in Europe they have the LED drl's too...like the IS Lexus' do now.
honestly, when I drove it in...it reminded me of the power I had from my EP3 Si. That K20A3 motor. It's also counter intuititive because when you put it into econo mode...you have to press the pedal harder to engage the electric motor...so it feels strange to have to punch it to save gas.

Yes they do. I believe especially in eco mode to let you know if you're being actually economical or not. Fun for hypermilers i suppose.
I spoke to a CR-Z owner recently who does similar roadtrips and his 300 mile highway drives see over 47 mpg at 68 mph. Not bad considering there are mountain passes along the way...

Impressive MPG numbers. Update us on the MPG when you receive the car in the future.

This car has grown on me as well after seeing a bunch of them in person. Congrats to you and your wife Ken

Congrats on the CR-Z. Pretty cool car, definitely a cool car for a wife to drive.
What kind of mileage do they get in the city?

If they had a white, blue or that burnt orange color Si sedan (2011) we might have gotten that. She didn't like the look of the coupe. They just had red with some awful wheels. Plus the test drive was to give her an idea of what the manual is like in the CR-Z, the demo unit was a CVT.
We missed out on a low mileage, immaculate 2006 white S2K by ONE freaking day.

Very cute little car, congrats!!! If I had extra space in the garage I would be tempted to get one as commuter...it must be a blast to drive, I love the CR-Z.
You are one of the lucky few that has a wife that drives a manual...a nice "club" to belong to
9 people out of 10 that look at my garage think that the WRX STI is my car and that the TL is my wife's ride...and she get quite offended for that!!!

Congrats on the CR-Z! Can't wait to see the photos. I've never seen it in the blue color.
The back seat thing is interesting because I remember the 2nd gen CRXs in Autstraila had back seats while the ones in the U.S. just had the hatch cover thingy. The seat would be a cool thing to swap in.
What did you think about the Si sedan's performance/driving characteristics? I never drove one but I was considering one before the MS6 purchase.

I loved the '11 Si sedan and coupe. It had a more comfortable ride than I expected. Some body lean but it ALWAYS felt under control. The shifter was great, 3rd gear was a little strange at times, apparently that is typical. The engine of course sounded amazing and was smooth.

3rd gear was weird? As in it was hard to get it into 3rd at times? Was the lack of torque extremely obvious while driving it?

Yes. That's the point, there's a reason why all other companies are putting in a small turbocharger in their cars in that segment.
All these cars' stock turbos are smaller than our fist, why can't Honda stick it in its engine and rate it around 240-250hp? I'm assuming it won't add up too much cost, we can guess this from its competitors' pricing range.
Yes, people can just purchase the turbo kit for the Si and put down huge powers, but it costs arms and legs. Plus, we all know that it's not that simple to add in the aftermarket turbo with all other necessary supporting mods altogether.
The Si's handling is great, it's just that they need some more juice out of stock form to really compete in its segment. Not hating, just wishing about it..

IDK, a turbo on an Si from the factory just seems out of place. I think the heritage is a high-reving low-torque engine. What they need to do is just up the displacement to say 2.5L and make it NA putting out those numbers.

Whats up with RDX owners?

Well, they did half of that. Its got the 2.4l now, a 7k rpm redline, and the same power.

Yeah my local dealer finally has some inventory. It has been looking like a ghost town the last time I brought the Fit in for service.

Just got a phone call from the dealer. They've got the VIN and some sad news, the car won't be in until the 8th or so.
I guess it's on the next ship that comes into Portland.
