Is it smart to...
video your/friends cars doing WAY over the speed limit on public roads, then posting them on YOUTUBE? I would think it could be used as evidence if the authorities wanted to pursue it.

Yup! If the police can ID the location and note the speed (speedometer) then, the cameraman winds up providing the evidence against the driver (who is the cameraman on some occassions). ....and there are plenty of folkd on the web who will be more than happy to (and sometimes should) blow the whistle.

I would imagine that, as busy as our law enforcement officers are these days, that there is very little to no effort being made to scan youtube for traffic violators and "bring them to justice". Unless someone gets injured/killed or some major law is being violated I doubt any trouble would ever come to you by posting such a vid online......
