Small car for under $6,000.00
Hello everyone. I'm looking to a buy a small used 4 - cylinder car. I need it for work. For the past few months I have been looking into getting a Suzuki SX4 Hatchback, but i later learned that i really don't need to spend that much money on a car. The car goes upward of $9,000.00. Anyways i found a 2004 Honda Civic with 111,000 miles. The owner says all the maintenance has been kept up to date including timing belt. But if you guys suggest any other cars please tell me about them. Here are the following few things i would need in the car.
- Either a hatchback or sedan with a folding rear seat. So i can easily slide in a 4 foot ladder for example.
- Must be reliable because i sometimes do about 400 miles a week.
- Automatic transmission.
- Must be good on gas.
... I guess I'm not asking for much lol.. But its great to hear from you guys because i have might missed a few other cars out there. Anyways Thanks in advance .

Someday, an RS6 Avant+
One car comes to mind: 2003 - 2005 Pontiac Vibe. Really a Toyota, but I don't have much history on them. Here's one from cars.com

Might want to look into the Chevy/Geo Prizm for the same reason: Its a rebadged Corolla.
My mom has a 92 Camry 4 cyl, auto transmission (same drivetrain as 3rd and 4th gen) with 228k miles on it. Original transmission and engine. Seat folds down and we still take 200 mile trips in it. Only bad thing is that it's leaking oil.

or civic, corolla, sentra, accord, camry, altima
all the other suggestions seem pretty old, although i wouldn't mind an accord wagon. does the op want a really old car?

Thanks guy!!!.. I'm also looking into the coupes now..I hear the civic coupes also have the rear seat folding down. Like i said I'm willing to spend up to 6,000 so that car doesn't have to be really old.

Pretty much the class leader for what you want.
Aside from what's already been mentioned, take a look at Protege5s or Mazda3s. Just beware, they have a rust issue.
Impreza Wagon? Might not be the best on gas though.
I think the Vibe/Matrix was also a great suggestion.
Will most of your driving be city or highway? I'd stay from the mid-sizers if you're going to do city driving. Fuel economy can go down the drain pretty quickly. I lived in downtown Toronto and there were times I'd get as low as 18 mpg in the city.
