Ski rack for a 911 cabrio?

Whats the solution for someone who has a 911 vert and wants to go on a ski trip?

My boss asked me to figure something out because he is buying a 911 soon but likes to go skiing.

A 911 cabrio seems like the worst possible car to take to the ski slopes.

Buy a SUV. If he can't afford to get a SUV then that's too bad... poverty sucks.

that's just dumb... who would bring a vert to the slopes

See if you can get a tequiptment roof tranport system...

They list a part number for the 996 cabrio:

i wouldnt take this seriously whatsoever

he has not even taken ownership of the car. he clearly cares more about voicing his potential purchase and his "high class lifestyle." do you think he really needs your opinion or solution? if he had such a concern about transporting skiis, he wouldnt be shopping for a convertible porsche to begin with. sounds like new money, no class. his position as boss seems to have him feeling his oats, and most likely, spending too much of his paycheck. get another vehicle for your ski trips. only overextended douches carry skiis around in a porsche.

just nod, smile, and be polite.

...sorry, i am a very analytical person...

Jesus guys, I understand it's a forum and you guys want to express yourselves, but are you kidding?

Is there a good way to transport skis on a convertible or not?

why does he ask you and not the porsche dealership, wouldn't they have the most understanding of this stuff? just seems like the logical thing, if he is interterested in buying a car from them and wondering about accessories
or maybe you could call a porsche dealership and inquire.
and i've seen a 911 vert being driven around my city last year on a day when it was -30*C

Good way? Probably not. I don't even know if you can put a hitch on them.

Is this his only car?

ThermonMermon hit the nail on the head. He could easily find out from the dealership and just felt the urge to tell you the new car he plans on getting.

As for solutions, what more would you like besides the link for the convertible roof rack?

As for a hitch, I am pretty sure they do it in Europe so I can't imagine you couldnt put a little receiver on there, big enough for a ski holder

But I did give you a part number for a 996 in my prior post...

Have Mr. Moneybags call the porsche dealer...

Some of you guys are crazy. You need to calm down on the anilitical crap. I asked a simple question. It's not like I'm here to talk shit. My boss and I are good friends and we both love cars. So we talk about them with eachother.

Christ people. You guys just have too much time on your hands. Go play psychologist in another thread.

Ok so maybe he isn't trying to show off, but the other option is he is stupid.
Seriously, who the fuck says "I want to get a tiny ass convertible with no trunk to go skiing with"?
Tell him to just put the top down and he can fit all the skiis he wants.

I agree that it's not the best idea to bring a Porsche to the slopes, but it's just a question to see if it was possible. All you guys judging really need a life.

Keep in mind though we are in Manhattan, having one car is a lot here. Two is very rare.

Yea, he is probably going to go with the coupe now. I posted here expecting a friendly suggestion or possibly a solution. Instead I get a bunch of wackjobs who think they have mentally dissected my boss because he wants to buy a nice car.

Are your feelings really hurt? I mean, you did walk in with a tough question -or one that didn't seem practical. Although I do agree that there were some douchebag remarks.

It's not my feelings being hurt that is the issue. I actually agree with the comments for the most part. A 911 is not the best car to do this in.

But what if i asked the same question about a Mazda Miata? Would have been a different attitude in here. Who cares that he is buying a more expensive car, what is the relevance of the car? I only told specifics because i thought there might be a specific part or rack someone might know of.

See why I think it's so ridiculous?

i already knew the NY in your status meant NYC. it was obvious. it was even factored in when i judged the cockiness of your boss and his carefree bragging to a 26 yr old worker. im in NYC, i know the type. sorry for being anilitical.

Ok, that makes sense. I do think that if you asked about Miata some of the comments would have been the same (Tzar, etc) - although probably not the dumbshit ones about money (Termon)

Ahh, no. I wouldn't ask the dealership for shit. Likely they are going to try and sell you the most expensive thing (if available) and often I've found they don't really know a lot about the accessories. Much easier to ask someone who knows about cars and might have an easier time getting an answer.

And his boss in a lawyer in NY, I don't think there is a need to brag about wealth.

So, I have a related question. You see I really love off roading, and want to get something for fun in the mud. I was thinking of getting either a BMW M3 or an Acura RL. The BMW has more power but the Acura has all wheel drive. What kind of tires do you think I should get? Should I call the manufacturer? Do you guys have any suggestions?

You see, if you ask a really rediculous question, you are lible to get all sorts of crazy responses.

If you asked me what to do with your skis and your Miata I might have had an even more creative response.

He is 30 I don't think he looks at me like some kid to brag to. We are good friends, we go out drinking all the time, we talk about cars a lot. He asked me a question, I posted it here. That's all there is to it.

I think you are trying to convince yourself that you know the situation, but you don't. Stop being an idiot about it. If you feel like being an asshole today, go right ahead, but you're the only one who going to look bad in the end.

I seriously can't believe what stupidity this thread ensued. It was a honest, simple question.

People responded as if I was bragging about the car my boss was buying, it's a 911. I see 20 a day, calm down everyone.

ha, i know, i know. its in my nature to be a prick on Azine sometimes. no hard feelings.

in all reality, having more than one car in NYC sucks, as it comes with a 500 a mo. parking bill. think of the indoor parking space as a VERY small studio rental.

I can't either. All you asked was if there was a good way to transport skis with a Porsche cabrio. That's nothing unheard of here in Norcal, but I guess elsewhere it compels people to go bananas about the choice of car . What is this, nasioc off-topic? For the love of God, people.

Anyway, here ya go.
