What you'll find online is probably going to be very limited in scope, but it can give you a very nice overview and a top level look at things if that's what you're looking for and are just trying to get your feet wet. That said, Autozine Technical School is about the best online reference I've found.

For the real hardcore and in-depth stuff though, engineering textbooks are what you need.
