SilverStar ULTRA

Wow. Yep got "bored" of the halogens in the 06 Accord, and tossed these in there. Huge performance difference. I'm tempted to put these in every car in my family that doesn't have HID's. I pulled up next to a new GS300 last night, and the HID's we're pretty much the same exact color as my halogens. Also on an open highway, they provide great distance. About double the distance on the light reflectors on the road vs. stock halogens. Very impressed.

I've had either the Silverstar or Ultra's in my Land Rover for two years now and they do make a huge difference over the stock bulb.

It's funny cause I use to always laugh at aftermarket halogens and consider them a joke, or just corny/ricey. But for real good lighting/visibility these are no doubt a quality upgrade for the money. I don't think I paid more then $40, and very happy. Obviously they don't have the same intensity as HID's, but the color/visibility is not too far behind. I always wondered why don't they just put these in all car's stock?

I have the regular silverstars in my explorer and while they "appear" to be whiter the light output is noticeably less than regular halogen bulbs. The Ultra's may be much better and worth the money but I won't be buying the regular silverstars again.

Also update your post once you drive in rainy conditions. I have found that the silverstars provide very poor visibility in rainy conditions. Its almost like the light is swallowed up by the rain.

Its simple...

The life expectancy of these "high output" halogens is horrible. You will be lucky if your bulbs last more than 6months or a year. Most car buyers don't want to replace bulbs at all, let alone that often.

The ultra may give you a few more months but they won't give you years of service like a standard halogen

Honestly, I'm an HID guy. But these are definitely worth it. Make sure you get the "Ultra" ones...All I know is on an open dark highway, its definitely

^ Same here.

It varies with how much the lights are used, but most people only seem to get about a year max out of them.

i have to pick up two sets to replace the fogs and high's in my car. the ultra's temp is 4000K where the GS stock Hids are 4350K, so they are very close in color. which will be the case with my car when i replace mine.

i ran a high beam ultra in the low beam socket, got more output out of the headlights and they last almost 2 years.....not to bad. can always get them on sale at pepboys for cheep.

I've had silverstars on our Pathfinder for several years and I've only had to change them once. They are definitely brighter than stock and somewhat comparable to the HIDs on my TSX. I usually find myself thinking that my wife is sombody else in a vehicle w/HIDs when she is coming down our street.

To the OP....do you have pics...especially compared to your HID vehicles?

I have tried a bunch and have definitely noticed that the high intensity halogens don't last nearly as long (barely 6 months for me). The high beam in low beam socket works very well and lasts a long time, just make sure they are low wattage so you don't melt your harness.

Some of the stock silverstars i heard from friends don't last too long, but the ultras seems to last a bit longer.

Something about the blue tint being one of the issue along with high output.

2 of my friends have the silverstar ultras and they very happy with it.
Its not a bad buy for them.

Aren't silverstars only rated for like 150 hours of use?

Thanks for posting this. Ever since trading in my 03 CL-S with HIDs for my 03 Accord I've missed the brightness of the HIDs so much. I'll have to try these out when it's time to change them. What bulb does the Accord take? Is it the 9007s?
