Exclamation Sig86 CM8 Intro/Mods/Pics - 04 Accord Coupe V6 6speed NBP

i know it's not an acura but i love hondas/acuras in general so i thought i'd post up my car to get comments/feedback (positive or negative) from you guys. i missed out on the flaccords meet because there is only 2 of us that work the install bay (best buy) right now. if we had a part timer by the meet, i would have gone. whenever the next meet is, i'll definitely go.

this car was bought for 10k with 99k miles on it. a 1 owner. has a few scratches/dings here & there. some things didnt work when i bought it but all that was fixed within the first week
actuators were inoperable, driver key cylinder was bad. needed tires.

i bought it back in Feb 08 and i plan to have it for a while.

my future mods are to repaint it same color w/ body work (fix all dents, shave rear H emblem). 3.5 accord or Tl swap with supercharger or custom twin turbo kit.

HFP lip kit will be ordered soon. greddy evo2 and aem v2 coming soon as well.
H&r springs w/ kyb agx suspension. wilwood bbk group buy is paid for and waiting to be received.

here's what is done so far:

For those of you who are wondering "wtf is sig86?". Palm Beach County Cop Signal 86 is Loud Music. Hence my license plate. A lot of cops actually don't know what it is if they aren't a sheriff b/c there code list only goes up to like 74 lol. But a real cop will know what it is. Why that tag you ask? Read what my system consists of and you'll understand it. Please comment on anything you like or dislike

Looks like you have a lot of work put into this project. I'm kinda surprised you focused on the interior first and some exterior mods as an afterthought. Personally, I would have done the rims / suspension first and then the interior, but that's me. I'm not too fond of overly loud stereo systems, since I'm cheap. I'd rather use that money toward a "nicer" car (not to say an Accord is crappy ... but I would rather purchase the new Accord coupe over the previous gen Accord coupe).

Glad you appreciate your ride. That's all that really matters.

BTW, Autobot stickers belong on GM cars ... didn't you watch the Transformers movie?

You do realize that you're investing FAR MORE than what the car is actually worth and probably will never see it back, right?
Meh... 2/10

well i wasn't even going to do the system nor the headliner but we came across Rockford Accomodation through my work and i had to jump on that. as far as the suede...i had a leak coming in my car and i could not figure out where. my driver side A pillar was wet so one day i took out all the headliner to find the problem and the hose for the sunroof was getting pinched on the metal. i figured since i have it all out, i might as well get it done so i dont have to take it out again.

my original plans were to do HFP kit then suspension then performance THEN rims later on but a few guys on started getting different cars so they had all these new parts laying around never installed, still new in box

i forgot to mention i have J-Pipe, Test Pipe and precat deletes sitting in my closet...waiting to get it installed all at once w/ my evo2 when i get it

yeah yeah autobot lol. but i had to put something on there after i removed the "A" emblem to cover up the holes

Well, to each their own...I just find a lot of the things to be senseless....What I'm trying to get at, is I wouldn't invest much in an '04 Accord, let alone with 100k miles on it

Hey, you said you didn't mind the negative criticism...

I don't care much for audio mods, but you did a nice job. For the exterior, you should have at least put the OEM bodykit on it.

Dude....I was modding my car up untill I sold it at 160k...

Car looks good, rims/drop will make the car. Looks liek that'll be the easy part, as you've already done the interior.

I'll probably get some flak for this, but theres more I like about EX coupes than the CL. I really wanted one to replace the CL, but I can't really stand the looks of the new ones.

There are things I like, and things I don't like as well as some advice to offer

I like the car itself. A 6spd 2dr Accord is really nice, especially since you found one with Navi. You got a great deal on it. Don't worry about mileage at all. Especially if the car was well maintained. I think it would be a waste of money to do an engine swap since you can get good gains out of your current setup.

I think you did a great job on the interior/system although I'm not a fan of systems either. You got the 6spd which is great for performance but all that added weight is very bad for performance. lol Another reason not to get the motor swap. With a Honda/Acura you should either go with all out performance, or an all out stereo system. It's kind of pointless to go all out in both areas.

I like the look, of the blacked out headlights, but the OEM beam pattern is best. 4300 HID fogs produce the best light output as well. Tinted tails look great, but I have a huge saftey issue problem with those, maybe a lil lighter. LED interior looks sick, and the suade is cool as well.

I think you did a good job with the car. Especially since you seem to like a lil bit of everything. The car is far from riced out and has great potential. Not a fan of the grills either but it's not ugly. Good luck with it and keep us posted on what you do next.

I think that if you kept the "H" on the front grill with the mesh it would look better, or at least delete that little dip in the center of the grill.

By the way the interior looks awesome, except I don't like the seude headliner since people's finger marks are all over it, but everything else is really clean.

Hello fellow 7th Gen 6spd owner!

It's interesting because we went in opposite directions with our AV6 6mts. I went the performance and exterior mods route while you went in the system and interior mod route. I like what you've done, although it's not my particular style, it looks like it's been done well and in good taste. I'm not a fan of the grills or the debadged front "H". Just looks weird to me, but again, everyone has different taste. I like the foot well lighting you have, very cool. I also like the headlights, although I don't think they wouldn't look as good on mine since it's San Marino Red.

The exhaust you're about to install will be a nice change. I love the sound of my exhaust, I'm sure your's will sound similar, although with the pre-cat deletes it'll be a tad bit louder. Be prepared to swap those suckers out when it's emission testing time because I doubt you'll pass with them on especially since you'll have the test pipe in instead of the 3rd cat.

Like ChrisQ1980 said you've got an advantage over the "normal" Accord being it's a 6 speed, although that system has to weight it down considerably. I'm all about putting your money where your passion is and I too have invested quite a bit into my Accord. I've seen people dump tons of money into Hyundai Excells and Ford Escorts so I really don't see how anyone can say an Accord 6spd isn't worthy of modification, but yeah we'll never see our money back if we do sell, as with 99% of the cars out there. Do the basic stuff like keeping up on your oil changes and do the timing belt soon and you should be fine for many more miles. Thanks for sharing!

I'm not too much of an interior guy but I do appreciate mods to change it up a bit.... and I have to say, yours looks great! I actually don't like blacked out tails that much, but I definitely love the audio setup. Excellent choices.

People who aren't into audio just wouldn't understand.... I wasn't into audio at all, hell a year and a half ago I thought my $99 Sony head unit, $50 Pioneer 6.5s and $100 Pioneer 6x9s sounded great. But then I became an installer, and I started to hear some bad ass systems.... its hard to explain, its like a contact high. You get addicted and want to build system of your own. Eventually you get a system, get used to listening to it everyday and when you get into a car that doesn't have a nice setup, you realize that it sucks ass. Well, at least thats how me and my boss see it.

And people say Best Buy does ghetto installs.... That is one bad ass setup, very clean. I was also interested in the 3sixty since a while back I was looking at a car that was a real PITA to add an aftermarket head unit to. Is there a notable difference, and do you it worth the money?

Are your amps and 3sixty.2 mounted in between your trunk and back seats? I saw you got a custom amp rack, did you wrap it and everything else in suede yourself? I've never worked with suede wrap before.

Definitely post progress, and try posting in the Audio & Video section too: https://acurazine.com/forums/audio-video-electronics-navigation-22/
^hope thats okay, mods

I know I have a lot of questions, guess its to make up for the disinterest that everyone else has?

i agree with shoofin.

if youre happy with your mods, then thats great!

Personally, i treat a car like an investment. I predetermine mods pricing.

Stock car $$ + expected mod $$ = End Product

If End Product cost could ultimately land me a more luxurious, nicer car from the get go = Me kicking myself

I'm not a fan of loud stereos. Never have been. In fact they annoy the shit out of me.

But if you like what you're doing, then keep at it! It certainly looks like you're doing a good job.

a lot of people think the marks are permanent. they aren't. all you do is brush those prints the opposite way and they are gone

the 3sixty was a HUGE difference. it sounds SOOOO much clearer, cleaner and louder. yes the amps/360 are mounted in between trunk and back seats. back seats obviously fold down when i wanna show off the set-up. suede was not hard to wrap at all.

i first attempted it w/ my co-worker. we used 3m spray adhesive. for one, the suede we used did not stretch a lot and after a week, the glue started giving out. i found a local shop that used better suede and professionally wrapped it for me. only cost me $250 (labor and they wrapped all the parts). i removed all the parts from my car as well as headliner, brought it to them, picked it up and reinstalled it. a/b/c pillars, headliner and sunroof shade visor wrapped. all the trim that used to be ivory gray, is painted SEM Landau Black (dome light base, maplight base, a & c pillar snap in caps, seatbelt strap covers)

I'm not into systems, but yours looks liek it was done with a caring hand, props on that. Since you are going all out on the sytem and all, have you considered 19" or even 18" at least? 17" seems a bit understated compared to the nature of your other mods.

one day it will be on air ride with 20"s

but when i do get rims (not talking about my TL-S), they will be 19's...either black w/ chrome lip or gold w/ chrome lip

Thanks, I was always curious but never got to hear one in person or tell the difference. and I just asked cause I was afraid the amps would get too hot with so little airspace, but guess they're holding up just fine. Definitely a setup worthy of showing off.

all you people talking like he's making a bad investment.... as if a car is a good investment to begin with?

good progress man... S2K retro w/ blackhousings, drop on nice wheels, hfp kit, and a comptech supercharger and be done with it!

I too have an Accord (05 v6 sedan) but all I did was an AEM V2 CAI and front and rear sway bars before I realized I would be wasting my money if I kept going because I didnt see myself wanting to keep it when I paid it off (2 months away). I was a click away from getting a magnaflow exhaust, work wheels, and tein flex coilovers many a times... haha.
