How much, are you serious, and no.

That thing is FUBAR.

A new frame will need to be welded in, all new body panels will be needed, a new suspension will be needed, looks like a new engine may be needed, new roof will be needed, new seats, dash, seatbelts, and pretty much everything minus the carpet(which is probably destroyed from rain or blood) will be needed.

What in the hell happened?

i'd rather spend the 5k in a used gs-r, parts are easier to get and are cheaper.

If you've done it before and you're confident you can sell if for a profit again, why not? Judging by the fact that it still has the dealer plates on it, I'm guessing it's VERY low milage...if the engine is still intact...

if you have already done it then why ask here? Just do it if you have the skittles. Obviously, nobody here thinks it is a good idea since people tend to think (so do I) that buying newer rebuilt cars is a no no.

Don't keep it unless you're going to use it as a race car. Otherwise, if you know you can do the work and turn a profit, why not?

I think if you can afford to buy it and fix it up, then go for it. Since you've done it before you know how difficult it is to sell a salvage.

NO, But I just wouldn't feel right selling a car that had that kind of damage to it to anyone.

i say go for it. my dad's cousin used to do this all the time, i mean buying wrecked cars and fixing them back up. he has no problem selling them either as long its a desireable/popular car which the TL is.

If it wasn't for the bent roof and broken glass (in which case, the interior would of been fine), everything else looks like cake.

just get a hammer and start working on it. or call WCC... or MTV. would be neat to see what they could do to a TL.

from the look of it, I'm guessing the engine is still good. Major parts needed are the roof, 2 side doors, hood, fenders, trunk and a little here and there.

I say do it and post pics.

Iam so tempted to do this project, the only thing holding me back is what if there is a shit load on frame damage. the doors don't bother me. but what if water has gone in than i will be soooo fucked cuz i will have to change alot of other things. to make things worse i can't see the car since its located some where in utah.

Ok so you pay 5K for the car... Than what, how much you have to put into it to make it good as "new," and are you obligated to show teh before picture. FYI, I wouldn't take a restored TL that used to look like that for 10K.

What I would do is get on the phone and make some calls to see what the usable parts are worth. Engine, gearbox, suspension parts not damaged, and anything else salvageable. Doesn't need to be exactly precise, but something to give you a baseline. Offer about 75% of your figure, providing of course under five thousand. If the car does have massive frame damage and cannot be repaired, you're into for the parts and a little extra for your time. It sounds like you've had experience with this before. I've seen worse that were repaired extremely well and re-sold for a decent profit. I guess it comes down to the value you place on your time and the availability of other donor cars.

10k is ridiculours my brother. I say at least 60% to 70% of what the car would've valued is the minimum as long as his work is good. Having said that, I think it should definitely be in 15~20k range, if not more.

Think about it, you see a 2006 TL with price tag of 20k, then you read that it has been in a major major accident, but from the look of it, it looks fine and drives fine, I'm sure you will have a hard time considering that car.

5k my ass for the whole car. The engine with exhaust you could bid on for 5k without any connection to a car body.

Dont waste your time. It will cost you about the same amount as a new or low mile pre owned one, and you will soend the rest of it's life hunting down gremlins, and re fixing/adjusting/ripping your hair out. Its not worth it to salvage it. Get yourself a flooded supra or something.
