Should I buy the Evolution?

I have 71K on my Cl it has been great but now it's time to switch things up. I have mixed opinions about the Mitsubishi EVOLUTION, the inside is pretty gross. And the wing is horrible. That thing runs low 13's for $30000 and handles like crazy. Also it comes with a warranty. Let me know what you guys think.

Well first, get it w/o the wing. 2nd. I'd take it in a second. But it's a compete different car then your CL. If you want a straight boy racer then yes this is the way to go. But if you still want to cruise in some luxury it's not. I know 3 people who have gotten the lancer, 2 of them ditched s2000's for them and the other one got rid of a highly modded 95 RX7 for one.

forgot to mention, that none of them have any regrets and they all love the car. They do mention that the interior isn't what their old cars were but it makes up for it in fun to drive factor

Wait for the STi, then decide.

I'm in love with the EVO VIII too.

evo is a hot ride. more powerful and handles better than anything in the price range. One of the world's 15 fastest production cars in terms of acceleration. only drawback really is styling; has a kiddie car look to it.

I like the Evo VIII better than the STi exterior wise, interior goes to the STi. Haven't driven either (STi obviously)....but appears handling goes to the Evo and accelaration to the STi. I happen to like the wing on the Evo, not really the STi (too clunky looking, weird profile).

Just by what I have seen and read so far.....I would go with the Evo (in Silver), you can get them for MSRP if you look around.

From the European and American mags I have read, it sounds like, the harsh ride will be a problem, especially to us, pampered by the very compliant ride of a CLS (always talking on a luxury-GT basis).

Good luck getting one for 30K, i would definitely wait a little, Mitsu says they will build as many as they can sell, price is bound to come back to reality.

Thanks guys I'm gonna go check it out at the dealer.
My father has a 1996 911 turbo with all wheel drive (400hp)
The evo is the same concept but with a less power. I'm sure with a few mods the EVO could run with the Porsche.

But I don't think I can get as many chicks in the Mitsubishi.
I'll keep you posted. thanks

I'm thinking of going in that direction too.

I wouldn't get one now though if I were you. Wait until the second model year comes out, and read some feedback from those who already have purchased.

Each dealership that I've spoken to around NOVA/DC/MD only gets a couple at a time, and they let people test drive those. I'm waiting until they have plenty on the lot, and to make sure that they are problem'free for the most part.

Its a WICKED car though. I've only seen one yellow one on the road EVER around here.

I'd also consider planning on getting one at the end of this year, (2004 model)simply because if you hang on to your CL with those kinda miles, you won't get dick for it.

The people I have talked to about that car all said it's a blast to drive, but be warned, the ride is VERY HARSH.

I'd wait till the STi came out to really compare. Looks wise, the wrx looks MUCH better inside and out.

Is the EVO all-wheel drive? If not then the wrx is definetly the one to go for.

Since you are driving CL, so I assume that luxury is pretty important to you, Then I gotta say don't buy a Lancer Evolution. It's a pure fun car for the driver, no comfort, no quietness, no luxury, no refinement AT ALL. Although I like its styling, there are just too much trouble for that car I would say. In the current market, there are several good handling 4 door sport sedans like TSX and IS300, but they don't have the power of the Evo. G35 is a pretty good combination of luxury and performance and value, so you could think about it. If not, and if you could wait, WRX STi would come out soon and it should be more practical, although you need to add some stereo stuff to it after you buy the car.

I agree. To add, just keep in mind that both the EVO and WRX are pretty limited in scope. For as much as you get in straightline performance (and even traction), you're going to forego a lot of other things (i.e.: comfort, ergonomics, driveability and interior option such as Navi or even a comfy rear seat).

One more caveat with the EVO: Boat loads of turbo lag!!
