Short Shifter

Hi people,
Please educate me as to the benefits of the "aftermarket Short Shifter from Comptech. Looking at their SS, it seems it is only an adapter; not a whole new assembly replacement.

Is it going to make a big difference in terms of the throw? The SS in my friends Corvettes need a whole new assembly replacement instead of the COMPTECH adapters.

(I know how SS works, just wondering if the adapters benefits much...)

thanks

I'm glad I got it. The shifts are firmer, and shorter.

short shifter gives you less of a throw when switching btwn gears. also usually makes the shifting more percise and much quicker.

on my legend the stock shifter travels almost a foot btwn gears, mean while the SS is only 3in.

unsure about just an adapter, that might just make the shift knob shorter, idk.

I read a lot of folks who have CT SS, some seem to have problems with 2, 4 the gear where the plastic inside rubs against. Also it grinds 2nd gear a bit. This is from Accord forum with 5MT and 6MT Si coupes.

Now does it make a significantly short or just a tad? I am thinking about getting on but not sure if it's worth the money./

In regards to the Civics, 2nd gear grinds with the stock setup. I don't think it has anything to do with the SS.

adapters are cheaper to produce and don't require as much engineering as whole shifter assembly.. with that said, my neuspeed adapter for my CL reduced the throw about 0.75" in either direction so going from 1st to 2nd take about an inch to complete
