Going to have to think about doing the upgrade...I want to drive the car a little to see how she is first.
I'm planning on adding some Carbon Fiber Parts to the Exterior and Interior, trying to figure out what's right and what's wrong so I don't overdo it. The possibilities are endless!
I ordered the stripes that I want to do on the car....
In a nutshell, I'm going with an offset stripe similar to this:
Adding a stripe on the edge of the door to match the top stripe, similar to this, but without the "Exige" text:
...And the tail end of the stripe is going to break away, similar to this:
I'm looking for the right color to paint the calipers to match too, looks like I may go with the color "Grabber Orange", similar to the Mustang Limited Edition color:
Going with the same orange color I have on my Mini accent stripes, which is similar to the orange you see on the Lotus above.
I like to be different...

Oh, and you know there's gotta be some IG on the car, so I'm looking for a tasteful decal to add to the rear of the car.....
IG????

Back together...
....Well, almost. The next things to finish is applying the Vinyl stripes, and I'm not sure if I want to change some of the interior parts with CF, or just wrap it in Anthracite Carbon Fiber Vinyl, and I may add some orange vinyl accents in the car too, we shall see...
I also have to remove the dash to tighten the front speakers that I replaced, and after that, trying to look for the best possible solution to get a backup camera with a monitor in front so I can use as an always on rear view monitor.
After all that is done, I'll decide if I want to step up to the Intercooler/Pulley/Tune...

Looks great. I never knew the Exige came with the soft top.
Curious, how feasible would an Exige be as a DD? I know the Elise I drove a few years ago wasn't uncomfortable, but it only had the touring pack on it. The salesguy said the track pack is a lot stiffer.

It comes with a hard top, but you can still put the soft top from the Elise on it, the grommets for the brackets are on the Exige too. I took the soft top from my Elise and put it on for now. It's easier to work on the interior of the car when the hard top is off.
It's definitely stiff and a tight fit. I would scratch my eyes out if I had to DD it....

I assume the Exige & Elise are the same on the inside. Aside from hitting my knee on the roof of the Elise when I drove it, I was comfortable space-wise inside. The "feel every pebble in the road" would be another story though.
I'd eventually like to have an Elise or Exige for a "toy" but that'll be a while.

Looks great.
Yellow, orange, or bronze on the calipers would really pop with that color car.

So after a shit ton of research, decided on a specific color, in hopes that it will match the color of the vinyl. The plan was to use G2's caliper paint kit, using their special edition "grabber orange" Mustang color. On the screen, it looks close, but I had a feeling it would be a little too light. They have another standard Orange color, but on screen it looks too bright. Anywho, I order from some guy on fleabay, this grabber orange paint kit. I get it a few days later, and it turns out they sent me the standard orange, not grabber orange. They didn't have grabber orange, so I had to go elsewhere. I went online and ordered it from a random website. I got it yesterday, and went in to my office today to do this....
This was the standard orange that was sent, next to the orange vinyl i'm trying to match it with...Too much of a bright orange-red:
Then I opened up the grabber orange paint, and realized it's more of a yellow-orange, and would be too light:
So I and and by golly, I think I got it! I added both cans of the orange and grabber orange together in a cup, mixed it well, then poured exactly half into another cup, then put half back into one of the cans and closed it up for future use, and continued to mix the concoction I just made, and Ta Daaaaa!
I would say that I did pretty good!
I plan on painting the bolts, the "Lotus" text and the lines above and below it, and the brake line piping under the caliper in black, which I will hopefully do tomorrow. So, wadya think?

Forgot what a good alignment feels like....The car is finally ALIVE!
The alignment was waaaaaaaaaaaaay off...Though I plan on aligning it again after I raise the car up a drop. Right now the ride height is about the same all around, roughly 120-123mm high. The car should have a 10mm rake from front to back. I'll probably leave the front the way it is, and raise the back up a bit. Should be good!

The guy I am getting them from is leaving that section from the hatch to the bumper longer than what you see, just in case I decide to go lower down or eliminated the dissolving portion altogether, so I will have both options...I just have to wait for him to get to my order, he said he's too busy to do it now and won't be able to cut my stripes until next week.

Still working on the interior. We removed the dash so we can reinforce the front speakers. The stock speakers are 4 1/2" and suck ass, I changed them with 5 1/4" JL Audio's (C2 525x), to bring in a little more clarity and sound. I have them in my Elise and am very happy with them. I also replaced the head unit with one that's easier to use, more powerful and has bluetooth phone/audio capability. While I was at it, one of the issues with the Lotus is the distance you need to be to remote lock/unlock the doors. Right now, you have to be within 10 feet of the car to even have the car pick up the signal and respond. The antenna that Lotus put is like 8" long. Someone discovered that by simply elongating that wire, will make a big difference. I connected another wire to it and stretched it across the dash (about 4' of extra wiring), and I can now lock/unlock the car via remote by as far as about 50' now!
I tell ya though, NOTHING in this car is easy to do. NOTHING.

Oh, also got the tires that I am going to have on the wheels I planned on using for the streets. I decided to go with the Continental ExtremeContact DW's. I went a little wider in back (235/45/17 vs 225) and front (205/50/16 vs 195). There are such few options for the front tire, which is why as much as I didn't want to change the sizing, had no choice. HOWEVER when you put it up against the Toyo R888's on the car now with next to no tread, these tires look HUGE compared to the R888. I just hope that it doesn't rub. I know a lot of people have went to a 205/50 with positive results, but it seems like it's going to rub. Have to see. Worst case, I get another set of tires in 205/45 or something. Lastly, I should have swapped out these tires before I had the wheels fixed, because as much as I tried to protect the area where the wheel was striped orange, it's next to impossible to dismount and remount a tire without scratching the stripe. The PC is fine, just the stripe got messed up, so I'll have to get it redone again. I even went as far as mounting them upside down, but the claws of the machine still rubbed against it and scratched it. The paint that was used is too brittle for the machine. Oh, and I even covered it with a few layers of masking tape and it STILL went through and scratched it.

Only two letters need to be changed, right? Do you think it's any way possible to have two letters embroidered?
Otherwise, those seats look awesome. Too bad...

Tiny car, I can imagine. We had a hard enough time doing work on the interior of a friend's NA Miata, but at least with the top down there's a lot more open space & you could lay upside down in the seat to work under the dash. A little harder in an Elise/Exige, or any other small targa car I'd imagine.
Those seats look awesome. Not so much on a blue car, but they'd be perfect with the dark gray/orange you've got going.
Are they aftermarket? Or a factory Lotus option?

Against my better judgement, I decided to add some more CF to the interior than I initially expected to. Against my better judgement I say, because I'd rather spend money to make the car go faster/be better rather than a few measly pieces of CF for no one to notice. In any case, I ordered it from a Forum Vendor from Hong Kong, and it's going to take about 45 days to get it. I'm almost embarrassed to say how much I paid, but then again it's probably cheap compared to what it would normally cost for custom made CF parts...I'm just not used to paying so much for not a whole lot!
I ordered:
For the exterior, a CF Splitter. HOWEVER, I also have a CF Side Scoop and Rear Wing in my office and recently put them on to see how it looks, and against the color of my car, I didn't like the way it looked against the paint, so although I am getting this, am not sure if I will put it on, or if I do (because it deletes the front license plate part, which looks nicer IMO), I may wrap it in matte black (or orange, but most likely black).
CF Steering Wheel Ring, surrounds the airbag:
CF Instrument Cowling Cover & Vent Covers:
CF Door Panels:
CF Center Console:
CF Foot Divider (ahead of the center console, under the dash):
I ended up buying some 3M Vinyl Wrap Film in the same color Orange that I'll be striping the car because I was contemplating wrapping some interior parts in Orange, which I still plan on doing. I also bought Anthracite CF look vinyl, but ultimately don't like the way it looks (nowhere close to the look of real CF), so I don't know what i'm going to do with it.
In the meantime, I needed to get my feet wet in doing this. I've never done this before. What I plan on wrapping and probably keeping in the car even after I add the REAL CF interior parts is probably going to be the harness bar behind the seats, the rear console that is behind the center console, and possibly the painted part of the inside of the door above the door panel.
This is the rear console. This was my first shot at wrapping trim. It didn't come out very good around the hole for the power supply. Then again it will be barely noticed, so I may leave it the way it is, but if I get so good at this, will probably end up pulling it off and redoing it.
I figured I would do the center console too, because it's a little easier to do, and I'll be waiting a while for the CF console to come in, so why not? Problem is, I threw away a bit of the vinyl wrap already after screwing up in my few attempts at wrapping the rear console, so whatever I have left, I won't be able to finish the console in one piece, so I ordered more Orange vinyl to finish it. This is when I discovered how important heat is in applying the wrap, which helped tremendously. This part came out 99% as good as I would want it to be, which is definitely good enough for me!
The door panel I'm doing to do is as you can see here, above the leather panel, where the door pull is:
Oh, and at this moment I am seriously considering the Intercooler/Pulley/Airbox/Tune.
So, what do you think?!?
