Shall I get a new TL or the G35?

I have got almost 60K and plan to sell it before the value decreases even further. I have looked at both the TL and the G35 AWD, and they both have pros and cons so I am really undecided now. What do guys think?

Do you want FWD or RWD/AWD?

Do you want a more sporty car, or a more-refined car?

I've never driven a TL, so I can't say anything about that car. But I do own a G coupe, so....

I dunno... I'm a young guy who wants to drive, so I'd go G. But that's me.

If I had to choose i would pick the TL...just seems like a nice car to me.

I like the styling a lot more on the TL, and my wife said that the G35s has an Ugly butt (whatever that means)!!

they are both really nice cars. vinarnold has the tl and my cousin has a g35.. as far as looks go, i think the tl is nicer than the g35 4dr... the interior is gonna be updated for 05 for the g35 so it maybe really nice. as far as speed, auto vs auto the g35 is faster. stick its a drivers race... so it all depends on u both cars are very nice and are made well..

My good friend recently got a new TL 6-speed with Nav.. It's an awesome car. The only issue was a little torque steer, but otherwise, the interior is top-knotch, exterior styling is nice and has a great engine.

You can't go wrong with the G35 either. I recommend test driving both and seeing which one you like the best. You will get all kinds of recommendations here, but the best recommendation is your own.

04 TL interior is the shiz imho.

G35 is faster, and doesn't have torque steer.

depends on what you what, they are 2 diffrent cars.

I love the new TL, go with performance package (18", brembo and aero package). G35 is a great car but unless your going with the G35 coupe I would go with the TL.

Car and Driver or Motor Trend just did a test on them and rated the G35 sedan 1st and the TL 3rd. Not sure if they tested the performance version of the TL. But they seemed to imply that if the TL was rear wheel drive it would have been their pick.

Good luck, you cant lose with either one of those cars.

How much trunk space do you really want? The G has been around with the same body style longer so it may have fewer "bugs" to be worked out. I would go TL, but I havent driven the G since I bought my CL.

I've driven both. In my view, the TL has a much much nicer interior. As far as the exterior goes, the TL looks better to me than the G35 sedan but the G35 coupe is another thing. It's amazing how much different the coupe and the sedan look to me.

Auto to auto, I think they're comparable when it comes to acceleration. But for some reason, I never found the Acura engines and transmissions that smooth (I have a CL). The G35 is noisier however (smoother though).

G35 sedan is ugly. Get the TL

Just go drive both and see which fits you best, they are both different.

If I had to go out and buy one right now, I'd get the TL. No questions asked.

Thanks guys for the input. You did not make my choice any easier The G35 coupe is great, but not pratical for me so that's out. I am somewhat leaning toward the TL, but I am concerned with the rotors(remember them ) and the tranny

I'd definitely go with a A4 3.0 Auto tiptronic quattro.

34k w/o navi, 36k w/navi
220hp (I know it's less than the TL, but hey...it's quattro!!!)

TL: 0-60 in 6.3 sec
A4: 0-60 in 6.9 sec

Definitely the TL over the G 35 sedan. The Acura feels like much more quality. I've driven the TL 6 speed, and the G 35 coupe (6 speed and automatic). The G's seemed cheaper materials and interior to me than any Cl or TL.

and if you want your choice to be even harder, try asking this same question on the g35 forums.

I say TL. Drove one when I picked up my CL, and it was pretty damn sweet. Its a hard decision, but I like the looks of the TL better, plus since Jersey weather sucks in the winter, FWD is an advantage. I know my CL is a tank in the bad weather and my brother has a RWD car with traction control and it still slides around in the bad weather.

Just curious, round what area of central Jersey do you live?

u want FWD or AWD?

TL has some nice interior and the current G35S has ok interor but if ur planning to get 05 G35S then you will be amazed by the new interior

TL Auto, i dont know if they r using some new tranny or the old one.. if they r using the old one then um.... G35S has one of the best auto tranny... it is from Q45.

Exterior... G35S is kinda ugly to me and TL looks nicer but it reminds me of some kinda pontiac every time i am behind one.

It's those exhaust pipes and the high rear lights.

Wait until the new 05 G is announced. There is speculation that the coupe will be bumped up to 300hp and the sedan to 280hp. The interior will be redesigned for both. We'll see how true the rumors are but the april auto show in New York will have the details on the G35, the new M45, and various other new products for Nissan (maybe even an Alty SE-R).

I dunno, would test drive them. They can both look good, the only thing holding the g35 back is the interior, hopefully like has been rumored, change is on the way.

if it was a G35 coupe I would say no contest. But, the sedan is ugly IMO. The TL looks way better and the interior is light years ahead.

You knew they'd have to update the interior sooner or later. Maybe the Infiniti execs have been visiting a-cl.com and have read our posts about how fugly the interior was

I said it was a rumor. There were several people who worked for Infiniti that said a possible horsepower increase was on its way. This was because there IS a factory 300hp skyline coupe in Japan (R-tuned Nismo) so its very easily do-able. Autospies has also said that a 300hp coupe and 280hp sedan is on its way. Now again, its only a rumor and I would take it with a grain of salt. However, I would still wait until April just in case the rumors are true (you never know...).

Keep the CL, unless you really don't like the car. You have already taken the hit on it. You will take a much bigger loss over the next year or so on just about any new car. The CL will continue to depreciate, but not nearly at the rate of a new car during the next year.

Ahhh... the "cheapest car is the one you already own" theory. Works for me.
