Seriously debating getting the CR-Z
In short what do you guys think of the depreciation on the car? It doesn't seem to be too popular so if they're not moving volume I'm trying to decide what I can get for the car + financing or see if I can get a really good lease deal.
Background and details:
I've been back and forth with a lot of cars over the years and right now the wife and I share a 2012 Prius which we absolutely love. We used to work in the same office so we shared a commute, but I got a new job in the city and I now have to take the train in every morning.
So far I've been getting away with riding my bike to the train station (2 miles commute), however instances like the other day when my tire blew or when it rains (eventually snow) or when I have to take a later train back and drive to a further location requires us to get a second car.
I really want another S2000, but what I'm looking for is really hard to find and is priced over fair market value. I've debated waiting for a FR-S/BRZ, WRX, and even a Veloster Turbo.
Today I went out for a test drive on the CR-Z and pretty much it drives like a Honda. I didn't get to try the 6MT yet but am sure it will be like all the other honda shifters.
Maybe the Prius has tamed my inner search for power, but think I'm looking forward to just the sheer driving pleasure of a MT.
Hope I can score a good deal and get a good price on this car.

Ken will be in to talk about the CR-Z.
Of the cars you've listed I'd get the FR-S or BRZ. RWD fun > than *

S2k and brz are in their own league. Cr-z is a hybrid fwd car. If rwd doesnt matter to you then cr-s should be nice but if u have craved power before it may creep its head up. The Subaru will be have more usable torque than the s2k which is more useful for daily driving. L

i would buy one for the sole reason of dumping it on its nuts with the mugen kit..
screw going fast, i like the way they look modded.
not to mention the bonus of the gas mileage.

If you don't care about power, dew it.
I would never do it though.

When equipped with the manual and with sport mode engaged, the Z is surprisingly quick. I drove one to the auto show and found myself bombing up Canyon Road with very little effort. Rear 3/4 visibility sucks a fat one but that's expected. If I were in the market for a fun 2-seater hardtop, the CR-Z would be high on my very short list.

My vote goes to the FRS/BRZ but I'm biased.....

Definitely try it with a manual. My wife owns a 2012 6MT EX, so feel free to ask me whatever you'd like.
As Andrew mentioned, it is rather quick in sport mode. The electric assist makes it very quick below 40 mph.
I've done 0-60 in just under 8 seconds. Not bad considering you have to the 2-3 shift just before that.
As for the shifter, its like a Civic Si. Short throws but not quite the bolt action feel of a Miata or S2000.

If I have to live with just one car, it certainly won't be a Hybrid no matter how sport it is.
A stock CRZ makes perfect sense to be a DD for weekdays though. That's for sure. I wouldn't mind leasing one for my DD, if the rate was dirt cheap.

I'm going back and forth with the dealer now on seeing if there's a good lease alternative. I think driving the prius has tamed me and I'm not really looking for speed or rwd fun.

If you are getting a car for a 2 mile commute to the train and back every day...why not just get some fun inexpensive MT beater car?
Save yourself money.
It'd be different if you were commuting and sitting your car for longer commutes...but 2 miles...you'd be driving it for maybe 10-15 minutes every day in stop light traffic...waste.

Didn't see that the car will be sitting at the train station all the time. Think about the door dings and scratches....just get some beater like an older Civic or something and save your cash. Sarlacc has this one right.

2 mile commute?!!?!?
Get a giant V8 beast.....no seriously!
Why are looking to save MPG on a 2 mile commute?!?!
Makes no sense.![Scratch](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/scratch.gif)
Long commute? Hybrid? Sure.
Extremely short commute? Hybrid? WHY?!?!?
