Selling the Audi S4 and thinking of getting a Forester 2.5XT 5MT
#49
Yeah, but the new 2009+ Foresters have grown, many insurance companies now classify them as SUV's. And when you look at a stock one compared to others in its class (RAV4, CRV, etc.) it fits well into the compact SUV field. Hell, even the new Outback has grown to SUV proportions, winning Motortrend's SUV of the year.

Well, huge change of plans.
Getting a 2004 Mazda3 with 52k miles instead.
Going with the Mazda will "save" me 450/mo that I can put into my student loans and not affect my monthly budget ... I'm not really happy to be downgrading like this but I need to be a grown up and save myself some serious interest on my college loans.
Wish they allowed them to be refinanced ... 8% loans fucking suck

Regardless of the car choice, you are doing the right thing. It took me until I was 35 to be able to just pay cash and not have to finance a car purchase.
This means after college, and you score that nice job, you can then be all grown up and get an Audi, or a CTS (V if you really strike it rich).

That horse done left the barn. I'm hoping to have them paid off by the time I'm 50 ... 2019 Audi S4 maybe?

I drove the Mazda today. Drives fine. Solid car.
I'm gonna hate myself for as long as it takes me to get to the point where I can afford another good car again.
Nothing sucks more than being a rabid car guy and having to drive something sensible.

Once out of debt, you'll be able to get a good ride. Maybe a used C6 or S5?

It's gonna be a long, long time before I buy another car unless my career trajectory takes some sort of exponential growth curve instead of a slow, steady progression like it has

Congrats on the Mazda3. I just signed in today after the weekend and didn't notice you did a 180 on the Forester.
8% financing? Did Penfed not work out? I know they have really strict underwriting rules and it was a pain in the ass just to get them to finance my fiance's car. We had to send in pay stubs, W-2's, and a purchase order (even before we knew what car she was going to get) for a $16k loan.
In any case, have fun with the Mazda3. I'm sure it'll do fine fitting 2 dogs with the seats down.

So I went to Carmax all ready to do the deal and they claimed the real price of the Mazda3 was $300 more than what I saw yesterday so I told them to piss off.
I have something else cookin' with Shoofin's help
