Saw a NSX today

...and it made me feel totally inferior. Those cars are so sleek and the sound they make is just awsome. It's hard to believe that Acura makes it.

Too bad they're like 90k.

Anyone want to give to the "I need an NSX fund?"

Anyway, here's to getting through another long week at work

Its funny how rare they are. IN my town, I see more Ferraris, Porsches, Lamborghins, Maseratis, (insert exotic/costly name here) than NSXs. I see them once every few months.

Plus they handle very well, are quite peppy and look

There are a quite a few in Oregon (per capita I guess)

I know of at least 4 or 5 in my area. I've driven one of them...

One time I saw an NSX take a corner...I swear, it must've been an invisible string attached to it, cause it swung around with no effort.

And I was a little shocked to see how small it was in real life.

What I liked most about the NSX was the sound it made. It just sounded mean! My car was suddenly way too quiet in comparison

a friend of mine has a NSX, he is dentist... man, guess he makes mucho money. Never actually sat in his car, but saw him manuver that thing in a parking lot, all I gotta say, wholly crap That thing glued to the ground like running in a pair of rail!! oh yeah, the engine makes the most wonderful sound I have ever heard!

NSX is probably the most unique super car, well, if not, it is one cheap "super car". But still, personally I think it is way way way over priced. 90K can get you so many better valued cars.

Well, $90,000 buys you a HANDBUILT car.. that alone is pretty nice.

As for the 290 hp it makes.. those are pretty healthy horses

(I think its underrated by about 35 to 40 hp)

And yes, the engine noises are amazing...

The NSX actually has less torque than our CLS, 224 if I remember correctly. Speaking of which, Japan has thing funny unwritten rule among all car manufacturer, which no car shall have more than 276 horses... funny, that is why on papar, NSX, STI, Supra, even Skyline all had "276" horses in Japanese spec. Of course, in actuality, they are way way over that.

But I do think NSX does make 290 in actuality.

I dunno, judging from the times that car does with "only" 290 hp there has to be something missing. 13.4 in a quarter mile for example (making it tie with a C5 Corvette with 350 hp) Many have taken a stock NSX and gotten high 12's.

I think that C32 engine puts down more than 224 ft pounds, thus making the 290 hp more like 330 hp.

With the NSX Type R, this HAS To be the case (coupled with the decreased weight) to give it such insanely good records.

Yea, I never knew how small the NSX was until I finally saw one. The price is a little high though. I remember I was droppin my mom off to her carpool and this NSX rolls up next to me at the light. The dude starts revvin his engine, and I was thinkin "Man, just cuz my car is dropped doesn't mean I want to race.." Light turns green, he zooms down the street and takes the corner pretty quick. Damn show off..

For 90K, give me an S4 with a full list of mods for a total sleeper.

Heh.. had the same discussion with my father a few years ago. I explained that it was handbuilt and made of aluminum and then his reply "Handbuilt for only $90,000??" He was amazed.

If this car were mass produced with the newer techniques... oh boy..

But then.. it wouldn't be an NSX.

You forgot to tell him there is full, real, leather seating, and the dash is covered with leather as well. For comparison, you'd have to pony up 120K in a Mercedes S-Class to get that sort of attention to detail. Just don't mention the 12-cylinder engine you also get with that Mercedes

definately looks better in 94 then 04
BUT that orange one is hideous
trash that wide body crap

the nsx is nice but when you have to replace the tires every 8,000 - 10,000 miles you will start to get annoyed. the wheels have a factory camber to them therefore tire wear is a bitch. then dont smoke the tires while leaving. but hey if i can afford one then fuck it

I almost bought a 1995 NSX last year for that amount...and with the CL-S trade-in, it was more than affordable. Too bad I live in a place where the winters are brutal.

Well, if it gets damaged, I recall the fender was like $4000CAD to replace. But, we all know that translates to $5USD...

Wait. Nevermind, your dollar is way down now. It's $100USD now.

It's really tempting to pick up an older NSX, like a 95 model. I wish I had an extra 25k but I still have to finish paying off my CLS. The NSX really doesn't seem like an every day driver either. I guess I'll just have to save up so I can buy a new vette!

Well, first off the vett is 3246lbs, and the nsx is 3,153lbs plus the way vtech or any variable vale works is granted its 290hp but the way it produces the power will give it an edge over a car without vtech. with the same HP plus it about the gearing and the mixture of torque and hp to get it to 60 faster or a 1/4 mile. I have been to nsx club events. Friends with the companys that have sponsored them too. And my best friends dad has one. Its def. only 290 hp at the crank, Seen many of them dynoed some make may be 5 hp more at the wheels than others but that about it. Supercharged ones I've seen break close to 50 hp more. they are getting old and def not worth $90,000 any more. but still good looking car.

^^ about teh "vtech"

290 hp is 290 hp with or without VTEC.

I would think that the VTEC would allow more hp to be made (at higher rpms). That would certainly boost the hp rating of the vehicle since the hp rating is always taken from the high rpm range.

Yes but a car that makes 290hp with VTEC will have no advantage over a car that makes 290hp without VTEC. All other things equal of course.

Well, parts are expensive, but maintanance is the same as any old Honda. If you need to change the timing belt or the clutch, then costs go up, but daily stuff is fine. I put 65K on it... drove fine... like an accord!

Every time I went for a visit to CompTech over that last year they were working on someone's project NSX. Comptech typically installs S/Cs, bullet-proof trannys, racing suspension upgrades, etc... on these cars. Some of the S/C installs would result in making somewhere between 350-450 WHP; depending on the application.

One of these days, I may consider buying an NSX and have CompTech do a full-out mod on it.

Wonder what he'd think about an elise being hand built for 40k. I don't think there is anyway to justify the price of the nsx, it was a great car when introduced, but it has fallen way behind in terms of Honda keeping the car cutting edge. But that seems to go with their whole attitude about performance models these days, taken a back seat.

They look seet but there is no way I would pay 90,000 for an NSX. You could buy a new Vette for half the price and smoke it.
