If and when it’s time for me to get a new car I’ll probably look at a preowned Guilia.

Though I saw a Kona N model is coming…and that could be a crazy sleeper.

Nah.

if she won’t go electric I’ll have her look at VW, Kia, Hyundai, and maybe a cx9.

Doesn't an EV also net you the ability to use the carpool lanes in California? I thought there are a ton of benefits and rebates that make it a no brainer to go EV in CA.

Telluride?
Not sure if the Sorento is 3-row, but have seen a couple & it looks nice on the road.

Always liked the look of the Kona, but would probably jump on a Bronco Sport instead, if I were looking for a smaller SUV.

A Kona N would be for me. Little awd fucker with 280hp turbo. Quick freeway carver.

Yes. But my wife doesn’t need to take the freeway to work and they only last so many years.

The rebates if they exist on said model make it a potential. But it’s her car. She doesn’t like to make decisions. So I’ll push and push her til it’s to the wire and then I’ll make the call

she wants to see if there are any other mid/compact SUVs with a 3rd row such as the Tiguan (her mom has one). Neither of us love the Tiguan…but are not ruling it out.

Had a Tiggy loaner for a few days while my Golf was at the dealership. If you're coming from the rave reviews you've given Alfa, you'll be sorely disappointed with the Tiggy. It does absolutely nothing better and is pretty sterile and boring.

Oh I know. My mother in law has had the last 2 gen. The current gen is better than the last gen, but nothing wonderful. I've driven both on decently long trips. And my wife isnt thrilled with it it...but they are relatively inexpensive leases. So, if I were to get her one then I would end up getting myself thats fun something sooner.

I also was doing more research on the Kona N...apparently FWD only...which is fucking stupid and a mistake, off the list.

We do this dance every 2-3 years and I usually win. That said I always had MY car. I currently dont have a car that I would choose to own as my own. I have the free lexus that does its job. So, if she wants a cheaper car great...then I can look at preowned Giulias.

Whatever happens it will get worked out. I revived this thread to further spread how amazing Alfas really are, and how much Ive enjoyed having one.

Sounds slightly similar to my garage at the moment (Rotus excluded).

Wife chose the Flex & loves it, currently just a bit over 120k on it. Hasn't really given us much issue outside of normal consumables.
I got rid of the Merc, to avoid potential $$$ future repairs & get us out of a car note for a while. Slumming it in the Malibu.

Might still try to make a run at my mom's F150, if I can convince her to offload it our direction for a favorable deal. It's a 2011, but she bought it new & I know it's been taken care of, and I've been getting the bug to get back into a truck or SUV.

Have you considered Rav 4 Prime. Apparently, it is freaking fast, good interior and u know it is a Toyota, plug in hybrid (300+hp), good review , AWD. understated... i mean it checks all your boxes.

I personally dont like the square looking fender well. But that is #1 selling SUV, so apparently a lot of people disagree with me. Maybe your wife likes the look.

I watch a lot of the car reviews from Redlines and that guy has a Model 3 and a Rav4 Prime as his personal cars. I mean this guys has driven pretty much everything out there, so i dont know what it is but i assume it can't be bad.

Well with the Prime 0-60 in 5.5 secs or so. Instant torque like E car. I dont think it will be as boring as highlander.

I personally just think it looks weird.. but 430k people in 2020 would tell me otherwise.

As much as I did not like previous generations, I'll probably also check out the Kia Sorento because of the 3rd row. I'm not expecting much.

The older ones left some to be desired, but the new ones looks quite nice, without having to deal with the Telluride craze.

I see the appeal of Telluride or even the Hyundai version, but 3-4 years later and still selling over MSRP? and Yes, the car is a bargain but it is not THAT cheap...

I guess 40k -50k now is the new $30k?

Is Hyundai literally "Type N "ing everything? I mean not a bad idea.

What is Honda doing? They should throw the CTR engine in their whole lineup: HRV-R, CRV-R, Accord-R, I mean why not???

Hyundai has the "N Line" and they also have the full N models. Its seems the N line models are missing lsd and active exhaust systems im sure there are other things too.

The Kona N you guys are talking about is the N, not N Line right?
I knew they had the Veloster N, didnt realize they brought more Ns.

I wont be surprised if they come out with a Sonata N, not N line or some other N.

i just looked at their line up... pretty impressive. and that Santa Cruz??

Yep. The Kona will be the full N model, like the Veloster. They are also bringing a full Elantra N later this year. There is already an Elantra N Line, i guess that is the equivalent to a Civic Si. The Sonata N Line has a 290 hp engine but Hyundai crippled it by not outfitting it with an lsd.

There is also the Elantra twin. The Kia k5 gt. 300hp fwd beast. But all review is say it’s hard to get traction.

I have no use for fwd. Kona N being only fwd killed it for me.

I think the KIA K5 (Optima) aka what Yumcha drives is the sister of Sonata. Elantra is like Civic.

Although the Kona N with fwd is disappointing, I still think with the lsd and the super slick 8 speed dct, it will be an ass kicker.

I was going to look at carvana when its closer to the end. I sold them my Durango and was very happy with them.

I like the looks of the new volvos but my friend got a xc90 and said its been nothing but electrical nightmares.

If you wanna sell cars, now it is the time. With the shortage of new cars coming, the used car market is booming as well.

But no rush as i dont see the situation with the new cars will be resolved any time soon, so you got time.

If only I had a title for the Malibu.....Probably get a fair bit more than we paid for it.
Same with the Flex, just don't want to get stuck into a payment right now. Nice having no car note.
