SAM's Club Gas
I was wondering if anyone knows if this is damaging to car? I mean, I read today about 2 vehicles having more than 10% ethanol in gas therefore causing problems.
They have very good price around my area..$4.07 for Premium 93. While Shell and Chevron have the cheap gas 87 from $4.17-$4.37.
Just kinda confused. I understand that ALL gas has Ehtenol.. But how did these cars get more than 10% mix in their tanks? Bad luck? Pumping at cheap not known brand gas stations (U-Gas, Valero, etc..)

now with the ethanol in gas, it has been causing a problem with many motorcycles that are carborated that sits. two bikes that me and my father own have already had the carbs completley rebuilt because the gas has messed them up, and many other people are having issue.
in cars gas milage goes down.....
straight up ethanol will reek havic on a standard gas motor not ment to drive on E85

All the Shells and Chevrons I've been to have a sticker saying it may contain up to 10% ethanol. Supposedly, Shell and Chevron and most of the "brand name" gas stations have their own proprietary detergents in their gas. Chances of those no name "Eddie's Gas" gas stations having their own blend of engine cleaners is very close to zero. Not too sure about Sam's Club though.
I hate waiting in lines though, and there's a Shell that has among the lowest prices of big name gas station around me, so I just go to that one. Not worth it for me to drive another 10 minutes and wait 5+ minutes in line to get gas thats 10 cents cheaper at Costco.
of course, Costco gas is better though.....

I didnt get the whole story strainght on how this BMW 328i got more than 10% ethanol in it. Cost the customer about 1,000.00 to fix. But hey, this person might of put E85.. who knows.

I am in gasoline business. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Costco, Sam’s club and other no-name brand gas station buy gasoline from different refineries.. which ever have the cheapest rack prices for that day.

So, when you are at Costco/Sams club----you could be buying gasoline that was processed from Exxon, shell, Hess or other American refineries what ever was cheapest for them to buy that load.

The main reason Costco and Sam's club sell gas for few cents less is because they have worked out great deals with credit card companies to keep their credit card processing fees to basically nothing.

About the 10% ethanol.. some states have a law that all gasoline sold in that state must contain al-least 10% ethanol for emmision reasons.

I use the Shell mastercard to fill up gas, and it gives a 5% discount on every gallon of gas you fill up (at shell). It comes out to be about 20 cents off a gallon...doesn't sound like much, but when u see $100+ credit on your bill, it adds up...it's pretty useful, as long as you remember to pay your bill as soon as you get it (otherwise interest will butt rape you). There are probably gas discount cards from other companies out there too

I also buy my gas at sams club, and have for the last 2 years, because it is right across the street, it is cheaper and I am there allot anyways.

IMHO:
I don't like like E-85 or E-10.
yes E85 is cheaper. it's like maybe 3 bucks a gallon but lets say you got a new 5.3 GMC Sierra 4x4 lets say you take it easy no towing or hauling of anything and your on the highway 90-100% of the time you'll get 17-18 mpg pretty regularly.
with E-85 same motor, same style of driving, same everything you're looking at about 12 mpg. yes it's reduced amount to fill up. but you have to fill up more often PLUS
#2. It takes 1 gallon of gas to produce a gallon of E-85. so what are we saving really?
