Lexus without a doubt.
Aside from being AWD (which you don't need in TX), I can't see ONE superior aspect of the RL.

RL, SH-AWD for the win, it will put a smile on your face every time you drive. Also your insurance will be lower, as the RL costs less to replace. Also you can get an RL for around 36K, and that to with CMBS and PAX.

If you have the money, look at a 2003 BMW 7 series, esp the 745 and the 750.

The RL can be amazing if done right, take a look at touge's RL in the RL forums.

the ls430 looked great online but in person I soon discovered why it was such a good "deal". it was a bit ragged out and it had a real 'funk' smell inside. it was bad. the outside looked amazing but inside was horrid. i also noticed a cracked/broken piece in the radiator bay and combine that with it being from MN, I worried about salt damage or other issues. I immediately knew to not even bother driving it. I was bummed because it was a sport edition that i thought looked good...guess not. just from sitting in it though, damn it's a boat!! too big for my tastes...

so next i went to see the RL. loved it, drove it and bought it

close to mint throughout and decent mileage at 42,300. and damn that's a huge nav screen!

here are a few dealer pics until the wash/wax/photos tomorrow.

Congrats on the purchase. Now head over to the RL board, where you will be welcomed with open arms.

A-Spec it (e.g. suspension and rims) and you will stop wondering about what the Lexus had to offer, other than a V8.

Of course, I'm biased as an A-Spec RL owner.

Um isn't the 2004 LS the old body style. In that case go with the RL looks much better plus it has less miles and has better performance since its SH-AWD. My bad I saw you bought the RL good choice.

fewer miles, newer year, LS is an old-mans car (so is an RL I guess, but not as much...)
good luck with your new ride

Okay, now tht I know your price range, I think you can get an RL (with lower miles), same year, for around the same price. I also forget that color name "Meteor blue?" But I didn't like it when I saw it in person.

well too late as i bought it last night but either way i'm really happy with the new purchase and have no regrets about choice, price, etc.

i also work from home and drive very little so i will be able to keep the mileage low for years to come.

Congrats on the purchase. I like the RL. Would love to own one. You guys that own them, is there a problem with the tail pipes burning the bumper? It always seem like the ones I see have that area of the bumper blackened.

i just looked up some videos/info on the RL...i never researched it before because people on this forum said it was like a failure or something...but its actually a pretty bad ass car

it would of been cool to selects which wheels you want power to go to..like my friends STi...a RWD acura would be ftw

With the RL, Its not really the power you have, but how it's used. The RL can fling itself around off-ramps at around 80MPH comfortably due to the SH-AWD and low center of gravity, but it has slow straightline accelerations.

Also to Ravi, the RL doesn't burn the bumper, that's soot from the exhaust that gets onto the bumper. Acura had a half-assed fix to put tail pipe finishers on them so that less soot would get onto the bumper. It still has the soot, but not to such a high extent as before.

Ravi, csmeance is mostly right. This was primarily a problem with 2005 and early 2006 RLs. Acura did develop a pretty effective fix. My 2006 never had this problem. Now, with an aftermarket exhaust sticking out a little further, it's even less likely to have the problem.
