S500 Stretched Limo

What do you guys know about the Benz-AMG S class Pullman limousine? Here are some shots. I wanna know:
1) If you knew about it before this thread.
2) What you think, other than the fact that it's "sweet" and "pimp."
3) If you know any details, have ever been in one, etc, for sure let me know.

BTW, I don't need to find out specs or anything, I've got access to all those.

I went to NYC for a 4 day weekend not long ago and my dad and a friend of mine. We rented one of those for us for the weekend. It was the nicest limo I've ever been in. We went to a Yankee game in it, went to our dinners and the clubs (my friend and I) in it. We were definately V.I.P. On the last day we went on a tour of all the boroughs (sp?) and took it through Brooklyn and Harlem....More than a little scary at first, but as the driver put it "aint no one gonna fuck with anyone getting carted around in a car like this." which is very true I guess. Ours was White with tan int. with limo tint, it was damn nice. I'm not positive it was a Pullman, but it was the exact same car as shown above, without the laptops, the TV screens doubled as computers. What does a car like that cost anyway? It was almost as much to rent per day as our Time Square suite.

If it was the exact same car, then it was a Pullman S500, which is manufactured by AMG itself. Nobody else makes it. How was the leg/head room? Seat comfort? Overall, what'd you think of the car? Can it cart around 4 people in the back easily?

BTW, why I'm asking is cause we're purchasing one. We being myself making the purchase for my uncle who lives in India. He liked my dad's S500 but since he has to "one up" his sibling, he wants the Pullman. He wants not only that capacity for 4 in the back (hence no Maybach) and needs that mobile office capability.

This car's (realistic) retail is a little above a quarter but the AMG folks want you to think it's closer to 350k. I'm looking at acquiring one under 200k (been negotiating with the AMG reps) and having the LHD to RHD conversion done in India.

Maybe because I'm in a suburb of L.A., but I have never seen one. Not around LAX or in the city. Not even at Van Nuys airport, where a lotta people keep their private jets.

While none of us were over 6' tall, there was plenty of head room, the leg room was good for us, but if you were to get a couple of 6'5" people back there, it could be a little uncomfortable since you face each other. One thing you can't really see from the pictures, is that the seats in the back are like Lay-Z Boys that don't recline, MUCH nicer than the bench in a regular S500. The seats are wide and long and go all the way to the backs of your knees. Very supple and comfortable. Car was incredibly comfortable and plenty of room for the three of us, or four if need be. I would have to say that the ride quality was par at best, I've ridden in many luxury cars, and this was simply so,so. However, I think it may have something to do with the NYC streets. Not the best quality.
Overall, I was VERY impressed with this car. The technology in it was great, almost too much for us, we had a hard time learning how to turn the radio off and the sound to the tv on. It had two phone lines, a fax, satellite tv, and wireless internet. It had a small cooler, but not big enough to fit a bottle of bubbly like the Maybach. No PS2 though!

My uncle is 5'8" at most and everyone in his family is shorter. Very few 6 foot+ people in India. Or atleast, the tall ones never seem to be rich

The ride quality probably had something to do with the streets, it uses a slightly modified version of the same AirMatic suspension as the S500 so it should be just as comfy. The four back seats are actually just four front seats arranged for the back.

Something in particular...

the seats in the back are like Lay-Z Boys that don't recline
They don't recline? Why is the seat adjustment stuff mounted for all four seats on the door (and for the middle row, where the suicide door should be)?

Thanks for your input brother, I really appreciate your conveyance of first hand experience.

I meant that they don't recline with a foot-rest that comes up like a Lay-Z boy does. The backs of the seats do recline, but I don't think they recline very much.
Hope this helps!

Ah.. no footrest. Makes sense. How about the rest of the 16 ways the front seats adjust? I didn't think it'd be too recliney, but it'd be kinda stupid to have 16-way buttons and be able only to move the back two inches.

You ever been in a Maybach? I'm not terribly impressed by it.

I didn't really play much with the seats to be honest with you, all I can really remember is that they did recline a little, they were heated and cooled as well, which is a pretty cool feature.
Nope, never been in a Maybach, but I have read alot about it. The only really luxurious cars I've been in are the s55, s600, 750il, 760il, and the Arnage. I LOVED the Arnage, but I'm a car snob too, so that probably had something to do with it. I still need to ride in the RR Phantom sometime. You can't help but look big time in that car!

One of my freinds rented one for his wedding. Sweet car.

It didn't have all that stuff in there though.
