S2k Owners

Anyone have an S2k and drive it in the winter? How does it perform with blizzaks? Thinking of getting rid of my civic and have a more fun DD.

At least look at the AP2 with traction control. But thats not really a car I would want in winter, convertibles dont stay warm inside and rattle like hell in the cold.

I'm an ex owner, but it was great with goodyears (don't remember which, i think they were tripletreads) but sellout is right. it does get a little cold. in winter i kept my heat on relatively high everyday. it was realtively dry here in PA though for most of the winter, so that had a lot to do with it. It is also a little noisy on the inside, but i wouldn't say it's ever noisier than in summer either...it's not a quiet and cushy car...if you're looking for a dd to be relatively comfy and are more than 5'10", you may want to look into something else.

I know with my summer tires last winter, it took me about 45 minutes to pull it out of my 30 foot long driveway to clear the snow/ice around it, and another hour to pull it back in. it was pretty exciting...

this is off topic, but Synth I heard that there was a meet in Evanston, Illinois for 350z, G35 and G37 this Friday, September 15th. Also rumored that the new Nissan Skyline Gt-r would be at that meet.

I haven't been through winter with the S yet (and I'm selling it), but what I heard is that it handles pretty well with proper good snow tires.... GOOD performance snow tires like Blizzak LM-22 or Wintersport M3/3D...

but even so, rather than spending $800 on a set of winter wheels/tires every few years, I would rather spend a little bit more money and get a beater. Looks like you already have a Civic for that, so why bother?

Just keep the S in the garage, the soft top will thank you..

^ Life is too short for beaters! I don't need to store 2 cars (the Z and the S). (A FI'd car is a bitch to drive for my commute).

Anyways....not that I'm committed to getting a S... just throwing it out there... And yep, I heard it handles decent in the snow with a proper setup.

Don't you have a RL w/ SH-AWD for a winter beater ??

Or are you like Nicky Pass, and not drive the nice cars

^ This is the deal, the wife and I commute together. Most of the time we take the RL (It is not fun driving a FI car in bumper to bumper traffic). Anyways, I want to keep the RLfor a long time and I feel as if I'm racking too many mile on it (already at around 22k miles... and had around 8k in December). When we do drive seperately, then I'll take the civic (or Z once in awhile). I would like something a bit more fun... and wouldn't mind having a 'vert as a DD in the summer. Keep in mind that when it does snow, I probably won't take the S anyways...

I would love to say this is YOUR car to the wife, but the fact that we car pool makes me the primary driver 98% of the time... which sux. But she's not a real car person, doesn't really care for 'em....

Good to know, since I'll have one by next summer.

Worse comes to worse, I'll take the TL out.

A guy on the s2ki forums called "xviper"... he was a mod and well-known. He lives in Calgary and drives his S2000 year round. Tires make the differences. Blizzack LM-22s were what he used.

You'd be surprised - alot of the Scottish guys go on cruises and group drives in the snow!

heh... I hear you...

In that case, just go with the S and get a hardtop and some Dunlop M3's or Blizzak LM-22's

I don't know about you, but I love the looks with a Spoon hardtop...

but still, I don't think it would be as fun as a AWD in the snow... just take the RL in the winter man!

That white M3 is beautiful, and are those Vader seats?

Oh and how would it be fun to drive an S2000 in bumper to bumper traffic when its not fun in a F/I car?

bastards!!
Too many choices. I can't make up my mind. The fac that car gives me absolutely no problems makes it harder to make the decision.

not nice dude.

It will happen soon.

I stared the GTO conversation againwith the wifey last night ...basically because it's so cheap (same price as getting an s2k) and fun.

She is not talking to me now.

OEM looks a lot better. I imagine the visibility is far superior too.
