RSX type S or WRX ?

RSX type S or WRX ?
Ok So I am convinced that I am selling my CL ASAP. It is giving me too many problems and I need to trade it in.
Problem is that I owe $14k and the best offer on a trade in I have gotten is $10k.
I don't want to finance more than $18k so I will have to get into an older car that will cost around $14-$15k so that when I bring over the negative equity to the new loan I will be aroun the $18-$19k mark. It is unfortunate but I have no other option.
Now while looking around the only two sproty cars that fit this criteria that I am interested in is either the 2002 RSX Type S or 2002 WRX . Both with about 30k Mi.
Any other ideas on cars guys?
Which of the two would you chose and why?
I am so pissed right now because I was going to get this CL-S 6M this local guy was selling but since my car is worth so little I am shit out of luck
thanks

I hear you about the RSX.
WRX might not mod much....
Sucks to go from a nice CL to one of these cars but I can't avoid it. I just want something fun, powerful, and RELIABLE!

Skip the GTi. Reliability is spotty and the suspension is way to soft. The WRX is not bad, but that interior is just terrible. The RSX Type-S is a decent car, not quite as quick as the WRX, but a nicer interior.
And while I know it's not the most popular car around these parts, the SRT-4 is absolutely a hoot to drive, but it is a Neon...

Hi. Just thought I'd chime in with a thought...
Not sure what CL you have... if it's a CL-S, I'd think it'd be pretty rough to go to a WRX. They are great cars for what they are, but the interior and exterior styling are just so unattractive (IMHO).
Anyway, let's talk $. You are under water on the car, right? Why are you getting rid of it? Worries about the trans? The rest of this post assumes that you're parting with the car due to the trans or that it's some other known repair issue. Okay, you like the CL, right (but for the repairs it'll need - lets assume that it's the trans). You are going to lose $4K right off the bat if you trade the CL. Why not just take that same $4K and put in back into the CL, a car that you like, and put in one of those upgraded aftermarket transmissions. You'll end up in about the same place financially and you'll have a reliable, fun to drive car that you know and like. Just a thought........

2. The tranny has been replaced 3 times in the last 3 weeks and it still is not right and don't think it ever will be.
3. The Throttle Position sensor just crapped out on me and it will cost upwards of $300 to fix
4. Don't feel like putting more money into this money pit. Don't want to keep driving a car that is a time bomb.
I wish there was another car out there that compared to the CL in features and power other than the solara.

tough call.
I like the RSX-S....but I'm tired of no low end.
WRX is a blast to drive, and interior is not as bad as people say. and you cant beat AWD. but there is the idea of buying a used turbo-charged engine and now knowing it was treated.
drive both and make your car, both good cars.

How about a Mini Cooper S? How about a Saab 9'3? Never driven the Mini, but hear good things. The Saabs are fantastic. Partcularly the hatchback ones (pre-2003).
You could buy a Vette or Mustang GT. Not as practical. Vettes are fun though and many of the guys over on corvetteforum.com are really cool.
The G35 coupe is out of your price range, but not by much.
I'm assuming an Accord coupe won't do it for ya?
I agree, despite the fact that the Solara is similar looking, I really don't like them.
I know, I know... An IS300. Its not a coupe, I realize, but its a good, reliable, fun to drive car (with one of the least exciting exterior designs in recent memory, but it is a good car).
3 trans in 3 weeks...... Yikes.

OMG, I agree with Zap again.

Dont get me wrong, 0-60 a WRX should beat an RSX-S. But, by 100mph the RSX-S will start to pass it. Acura really did hit a 'triple' with the RSX-S (The DC5 ITR would have been a homerun).
And forget that VW thing. A Golf will make your CL seem trouble free.
Sarlac's suggestion about the 5G Lude......

Tranny and engine are solid....what else do you need? The interior is light years ahead of the wrx. WRX 5speed are weak as shit and it's hit or miss with the mods and warranty from the dealerships.

you should check out www.clubrsx.com and www.nasioc.com. Those are the best sites for the rsx and impreza.

How about a 2000 Celica GT-S ?

Pro's cons ? Any issues with this year?

Might as well throw in Integra GS-R (94-01) and 1999-2000 Honda Civic Si. B18C and B16A respectively, heard those babies have limitless mod potential.
The new Hyundai Tiburons look pretty good to me. I think the GT-S (V-6) model has about 180hp/180tq + a really nice warranty (i think its 10 years?)
Oh and as to the Celica GT-S, basically the same thing as an Integra, cept an Integra has much more of an aftermarket in case you want to mod your car =D

^ I think thats a little out of his budget, even a used one goes for 20+. But if you'll consider it, also consider a TSX 6 speed then =D.
Will, I think the RSX Type S suits those recommendations the best, followed by an Integra GS-R =D.
