Cool RSX Type R swap

this guy must be crazy here, but he got all the money to do it and doesn't really care

he got a 2004 white RSX-S with only 2000 miles on the new car, then he decided to buy a JDM type-R engine (220hp) and swap it into his car

he bought the JDM type-R engine at around 3500 dollars (from a totalled car)

i was at the shop today and saw the engine is not that new and found a lot of broken glass in the engine, besides it's very dirty and a lot of stretches, some of the parts are even worn out

but his type-S engine is so fxcking brand new at 2000 miles and so clean, what the wrong is with him???

including labour that's about 8000 dollars and you only get 20hp gain?? that's gay

he could have traded in for a 05 and get 210hp then pump it out, why get an engine that's from a totalled car?

it would be great if u upgrade from the 160hp one, but type-S? he probably has too much money to spend

That makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. I have seen it done to a 03' Civic Si with a 6 speed conversion.

He should have just bought an STi and be done with it. But, if your an RSX owner, just put in Type R cams, intake and throttle body and you should see 220hp and a noticable performance difference for about $1800. Then a turbo for $4000 and you will have one sweet ride.

I see where he's coming from. The RSX-S is a pretty awesome car. He's probably gonna do the whole Type R conversion. It's more status and "I did it" vs. cost per hp.

actually the JDM type-R would have better performance parts out there.. later on when he hooks up his car with more parts, you'll see that he gets better gains from the type-r parts then if he had the type-s engine.. you also got a wider variety in the things you could do with it.. but then again it with the cost of the whole modification, you couldve just traded it in for a much more powerful and quicker car than the rsx.. what a waste. but if you got the money, its worth trying i guess..

Yeah I agree it was stupid.
presumeing he had an 04 it would have been cheaper to trade his 04 on a 05 for less than the 8 grand he has in the motor with labor. and he's only getting 10 more hp over a stock 05 RSX-S. Plus with a new type S you get a full warrenty. plus i wouldn't ever do this to a car with just 2000 miles on it. i'd wait till the warrenty is done on it.

I dont get it either.

More dollars than sense.

If I had my way... i'd start with a CRX as a project car. B18C5 + Turbo = Pissed off Corvette owners
