Rotate Different Sized Tires/Wheels from Front to Back

It may sound stupid but never thought about it. How do you rotate tires on say a 2006 BMW 330I. My neighbor asked me and i said good question. The fronts are a different sized tire than the rears. Rears are obviously wider being rear wheel drive.

switch the rears w/ each other and the fronts w/ each other

but make sure that they aren't directiontional tires, if so, can't rotate them

If they're directional, you might get away with unmounting the tires and mounting them to the rim on the other side. But some directional tires cannot be placed on the other rim ... double check with the manufacturer or a tire shop.

I've just come to accept not rotating my tires. It's not like S2K's have the torque to really trash a set anyway. Most directionals that I've had don't allow dismounting and swapping sides. They usually have one side specified to be the outside.

Tires these days can have specific directional rotation and/or specific outside/inside edges.

If the wheels are staggered, tires directional and outside/inside-specific, then you can't rotate tires.

i agree with everybody else but i did read somewhere that mounting a directional tire in the opposite direction really didn't affect performance.

i won't be doing staggered tires for a while.

listen to me.. the only way you can rotate staggered setup is:
switch your right rear with your left front.
