Rode a new Harley AND I LOVED IT!

I've owned many sport bikes in my past and always considered the big Harley touring bikes to be old man bikes. They never ever ever interested me but my brother just got a new '08 Harley Ultra Classic Electra Glide and I took it for a ride today. This one is fuel injected with a 6 speed and it really moved for a bike that ways 850 lbs! Yes 850 lbs! But man that thing was smooth and for that much weight really balanced. The engine is rubber mounted so there was no vibrations but plenty of Harley rumble even from stock pipes.

I know it's not a sport bike but the skies were clear, it was 80 degrees, zero traffic on some great country back roads, the 4 speaker stereo cranked up and I fell in love with this bike. If you ever get a chance to take one for a ride, go for it. It may just surprise you, it sure did me. Now, maybe when I'm a just little older.

As weird as it sounds I want a softtail one day along with a sportbike. for a touring bike I think I'd prefer BMW or Honda. Nice review... I kinda want one now. My coworker has a GSX-R750 and he rode a softtail and thought it was really fun.

When I got my license last year and took the motorcycle training I enjoyed riding the cruisers. They were enjoyable and very easy to use.

If you liked the Harley....don't ride the Goldwing.

Sure the Goldwing is not a V-twin....but wow does that thing go...and the handling is mind-blowing for a touring bike.

Goldwing & K1200 are incredible touring bikes. Honda & BMW are tops in touring.

If you like a v-twin motor in a touring bike...take a look at the Victory Vision...it sure has a "unique" look.

My dad's friend got killed about a month ago on his Electa Glide. His was older but he just had it torn down and painted white and silver. Back tire blew out on the interstate.
