Rode in a Magnum...wow

My roomate's dad just got a brand new Dodge Magnum R/T AWD. I must say that this car kicks ass. He got it in an off-white cream color which was gorgeous. It also came with NAVI and leather, which I thought was very good. The leather seemed nice, and the interior was cool (gauge pods lined w/chrome, chrome sport shift, little silver plasic here and there). I thought it looked kinda cheap, but overall not bad at all.

We were sitting at a stop light and he puts the car into first and just guns it right off the line. The AWD catches and the wheels chirp just slightly, and the exhaust sounds soooo pretty. Before I know it we are at 40 in second gear and he pops it into 3rd, I look behind us and I can't see the cars that were at the light.

Later, we take an onramp to the highway and he slows and drops it into 3rd then 2nd and pushes it and the car does not really sway at all (for being 4,xxxlbs) and the awd keeps it gripped right to the road. We take it easy as we get onto the highway still in 2nd and he guns it again. I have my head against the headrest and I look at the other 4 passengers in the car and every one of their heads goes flying back and their eyes light up as we are pulling really hard. We cruise on the highway and get off, again he has the car going pretty fast, although in standard drive now, on the offramp and the thing hugs the turns nicely.

We cruise on back to the parking lot, and he revs the engine a bit and it sounds really pretty. I'm sure an aftermarket dual exhaust will make the 5.7L sound more like a Trans Am, which would be nice (he plans on getting an aftermarket exhaust).

Oh, did I mention this will be an EMT car, so it will be fitted with the police package (strobes, light bar, custom EMT compartments in the spare tire well, and a few other goodies ) I think I will be able to convince him to put some deep dish 20's on it (22's are going to be too baller for EMT). The fender will definitely accept a fat lipped big rim.

Both he and I want this car to be the baddest EMT car in NJ. Our police force has a z28 camaro with a $4k sound system in it, so these two should be nice together.

. He is the head of the EMS, so this is the car he drives. No people will be going in it...just supplies and other stuff, which will be custom stored into compartments in the back.

srika: It's really not uncommon...there are plenty other depts. out there with crazy cars in their fleet. Same goes with police as you know.

wsklar: Haha, I love that quote. Had to put it in there...sorry I didn't ask you first. Do you mind if I use it?

Oh, and the car already has 18's on it, so 20's aren't that far fetched...especially with that beast.
