The install is gonna suck for that lol. Gotta lower the motor a good amount to get them around the trans, unless you cut the flanges off the stock cats to get them out. But they sound pretty damn raspy like that.

I forget what exhaust my brother has, but it's a good note. The whine from the supercharger is my favorite bit though.

If you're looking into any performance mods though, you really need to address cooling first.

okay so 2.0t is downpipe...
3.0 supahcharghah is headers.
I can't find a downpipe for the Volvo for the life of me.

Lets be clear here - are we talking about headers or "downpipes" (which is really a mid- or b-pipe).

Okay, Morgan was talking about stage 2+ or III for ME with the supercharger...
for the 2.0t TFSI the downpipe with stage 2 will be a substantial gain.
From what I've seen, Morgan, there's an offset wrench to use to gain access
to the top of the bolts to get the oem one off.
But you're right...I'm not in a rush...this thing is plenty quick for me
and I'm not chasing numbers or waterfalls.

I was under the assumption killer had an S4 as well, which is why I asked for the clarification. But yes, a downpipe on the 2.0T makes a huge difference - it's why I have one But, in your defense, IE and a few other companies refer to their catless mid-pipe for the B8 S4/5 as a downpipe, so I can understand why you'd call it the same.

You can access the bolts, but from I've read/heard, it's a pain to physically slide them out between the subframe and the transmission. The manual transmission is smaller, so there's more room for activities, but the DSG takes up quite a bit of space.

PS - Waterfalls are fun.

Strangely enough, that part of the Autobahn in Mejico looks familiar; although, I hate it when the Plecia nearctica is active.

On a serious note J. How bad are the precats on the TL? I offered to help a buddy do the install on his not knowing much about figuring it is just another bol on pipe it can't be that bad.

you'd like to touch his downpipe too, wouldn't you?
Jason, not bad...I wasn't that well versed at the time...put a towel on the engine and get cozy, remove strut bar and just feel around and
don't drop anything.

come to think of it, the hardest part was getting the heat shields off and maneuvering them out of the rear space...
fronts were a cinch.

Spring has arrived
Okay, springs...
Sold off the other stuff I removed from the buddy's car...netted like $540 after shipping
after selling off the adjustable control arms, the upper mounts and the springs themselves.
not bad for a suspension swap.

Car is coming along...I'm being methodical and not rushing through anything. I realize when I'm done with a car
I get bored. I don't regret this purchase one bit though. I love this car more than I've loved a lot of my previous.

Dry ass door stripping was dry ass. Got some Shin Etsu love.

ohhh smokey you ashyyyyy

Doors now close with a vacuum tight clunk...

Can't tell much from the picture but I got down on all fours and really got in there.

I did a bucket with some dawn and water and gave the entire interior a scrubbing...the steering wheel was gross...
previous owner(s) must have driven with their knees in speedos...
The Alcantara I just brushed and lightly vacuumed and then spot cleaned stains
Then Lexol Leather treatment on everything and chemical guys interior cleaner and protectant.

Look good J. Can't believe the interior dirt turned the water so dark. That is a damn dirty car. Thought you liked it that way though.

That was mainly from the shifter, steering wheel and door panel...
seriously, I thought there was a section on the bottom of the wheel that was
damaged...turns out it was a solid layer of filthy grime.

Okay, well...I waste no time.
took spring swap from 5.5 hours first time around to 3.5 taking my time and
using hand tools over impact on a lot of bolts. It's kind of therapeutic.

Cut the front bump stops...loaded up the bushings and relieved the tension.
Rides impeccably for how low it is. They're the H&R sport springs which supposedly
only lower it 1.5". Front is tucking and rear is basically perfect. Rubbing a little
on 90 degree turns when I hit a bump so I'll probably throw the fender roller on today.
Not sure yet...I'll see where it all settles. I'll decide down the line if I'll cut a dead coil (yes, cut springs)
or just sell these and get coils. Depends on how long I keep the car.

Ghetto ingenuity to get the lowering springs in...the coils are so close together it would have been hard to
get the compressor on.

Shit looks good J. Makes the wheels look much better now. Wasn't sure I liked them on the car at first but now that it is lowered

Zipties instead of a spring compressor
