@SamDoe1 Thanks for the guidance...there are a handful of guys that I trust pretty blindly because I can tell they do their homework and are anal retentive about how they approach things. You're one of them.
I'm LOVING putting in the work on the Jeep...so far, it repays you very obviously with how much better it drives with EVERY improvement you make.

Aside from that one fastener for the slave cylinder that snapped nothing else has given me too much trouble as far as rust is concerned...

Got the rear track bar installed...I had ordered some energy suspension bushings to throw into it but it turns out whoever installed it didn't tighten enough and used
smaller bolts which was why it was clanking back and forth on turns. The Bushings were new :tomato:

This weekend I started tackling something I'd been dreading due to the amount of hardware and potential for snapping bolts/studs.
Went flawlessly...dirtiest fucking job ever overhead. I had sprayed all the bolts with PB blaster at least 3 times in the last few weeks.
Oil pan itself wasn't leaking much but the rear main seal definitely was. Not horribly but it annoys me to have oil on the bottom of the car...
especially when it's a 2 piece design and not too difficult to get done.

here's the last collar holding the other piece of the seal

Here's the hardware...studs all came out as bolts now...so I left that end rusty since I won't want it coming out.

Took about an hour with a wire wheel cleaning all the heads and threads up. Found a few pin holes in the oil pan so I ordered a new one...for $53, fuck it...it'll be nice to have a new pan on there.
I was about to throw some new motor mounts in too but I opted to return the cheap ones I had ordered...and get these Brown Dog Industry ones...they are still rubber but a much better quality...
I opted for the 1" motor lift ones since that's good to pair with the suspension and body lift. Since I have electric fans it should be fine although the exhaust is basically welded to the header flange
so I'm hoping I don't run into any fitment issues. I emailed the owner to ask him if he thought I should just keep it stock height.

Anyway...

I had ordered some new lenses but I'm going to return them...
I actually really love cleaning up what exists on the car...

That's it...fun little weekend. Feels like a giant golf cart

Ironically...the OTHER guy's advice I take as gospel posted too.
I know you motherfuckers don't regurgitate what you read or hear...you live it and then share.
You're not only the founders of the hair club for men, you're also members.

:rockstar:

Dude, just got off the phone with Tim at Browndogindustries...
I heard the dog barking in the background...he's in AZ and wasn't at the office yet
still picked up. After talking to him about my setup and what to address he suggested I stick with
stock height rubber mounts...that should really help with holding things in place. He also said if
I ever have ANY questions to call him and if he doesn't know he has someone that does. Jeep community
bros is life for sure.

He said if my chatter continues after I address everything else...give it a chance to wear in the u-joints with the new
stuff in...otherwise, change u-joints and I should be golden. He said TJ actually should drive down the road super
solid and quiet.

Bro.. you don't need to suck my dick.
ladiboi was here already.. I'm good.

rockstar143 09-30-2019 10:11 AM

I know but I made it my personal goal to see if I could make you bust again without the refractory period.

cu2wagon 09-30-2019 10:20 AM

What a chowder fest in here.

cu2wagon 09-30-2019 10:21 AM

Real quick though... If I were to buy a TJ, should I get a red one or some other color?

SamDoe1 09-30-2019 10:27 AM

The Jeep community is a cult, wave and all.

My wife is making me a "Wave Dammit" sticker for the Jeep on her cricut. Want one?

You're dead to me

rockstar143 09-30-2019 11:14 AM

:pofl:
Sam, I'd probably put that bitch on it if I had one!
I currently have a "Take it out and Play with it" Decal I need to find a spot for...
J insisted I buy it.

SamDoe1 09-30-2019 11:44 AM

Need to also procure a "Go Topless!" sticker.

Majofo 09-30-2019 02:16 PM

How about "Show Your Titties!"
Otherwise you'll look like an incel hover hand douche
Trust Jofo

rockstar143 09-30-2019 02:36 PM

I thought it was implied once you get a Jeep.
Probably why FJ is considering one.

Majofo 09-30-2019 02:49 PM

Fucking FJ, you don't need a TJ
J will start you on an HJ, then finish with a BJ
Probably even RJ in between

rockstar143 09-30-2019 02:51 PM

unless you're getting all 3 of those, I would withhold payment.
:O

rockstar143 09-30-2019 02:54 PM

I know you guys hate me but...
I fucking love this thing...I love the simplicity of everything on it.
I was under it yesterday looking at how the shifter is mounted to the body...
fucking self tapping screws...from factory.

It's changed my perspective on ordering new and replacing things...this thing
was purpose built to be fixed on the side of the road. So when I normally would
just go order another one, this one makes me think about how else I can repair
something BEFORE ordering another one.

I really do get why the jeep community bros is so tight.

Majofo 09-30-2019 03:25 PM

Probably sold out

rockstar143 09-30-2019 03:26 PM

Everyone in that shop was just watching the one guy making them so they did sell out.

That's the joy of Jeeps. You can fix it on the side of the trail 100 miles from nowhere with a screwdriver, pair of pliers, and a rock.

rockstar143 09-30-2019 07:40 PM

Fuck yes you can
what I did learn is that you can't fix a popped hydraulic clutch line with a pair of boxer briefs tied in a tourniquet over it. but you can still
catch a push and finesse into 3rd gear and make it home. :tomato:

Got the upper of the rear main seal pushed in...that was stressing me out...then took some time cleaning the rtv and sealant out of the
bearing cap that the other half of the seal sits in. It started pouring and I took that as a sign it was time to call it a day. Tomorrow I should get
it all back together. Also...track bar arrived...and motor mounts hopefully will be here by the weekend.

rockstar143 10-02-2019 11:14 AM

My buddy might be buying my Yukon...
I hate selling to friends but he actually needs a bullet proof car and I'll sell it to him for the low.
He knows what issues it has and what's been addressed and it'll be great for his family, methinks.
Anyway...

Jeep getting fresh oil and a crank today...praying I followed all the different conglomerations of advice for doing
the rear main seal and oil pan gasket correctly. New oil pan with cleaned up hardware felt good to put in!
J.

pickup and crank look super clean

here you can see the magnaflow custom exhuast weld job...definitely not done by Jesse James. I was a bit concerned about
getting the pan out and clearing the pickup because they put a new header on and welded directly to the flange.

SamDoe1 10-02-2019 11:35 AM

Crossing my fingers that it starts and doesn't blow up.

BreezyTL 10-02-2019 11:42 AM

If it does, just :flame: it!

rockstar143 10-02-2019 12:58 PM

I mean, I do have an LS in the Yukon I could snag

TylerT 10-02-2019 02:31 PM

Rear mains go on 1 way and not the other ... good luck!

rockstar143 10-03-2019 06:32 AM

@TylerT are you being sarcasm?
I let that bitch idle for like 15 minutes and it was bone dry at the bottom of the transmission where it
always had a drop. Oil pan bolt did too usually and nothing. It was good to go.

RoughCountry Forged front trackbar...thanks for the recommendation @SamDoe1
Wasn't rocket science to install...hardest part was finagling the angle grinder and drill
into the inner oem bracket to install the aftermarket bracket. New bar is EASY to adjust!
I used tape and a 2 foot level to get the fenders even over the tires...then adjusted the steering
wheel.

Went out to have a little fun after

Got the new bolt on side mirrors on too...

Yumcha 10-03-2019 10:47 AM

rockstar143 10-08-2019 10:17 AM

I let pops rip on it a bit...he said it was fun...he shook some of the manual rust off...I remember him giving me one of my first
lessons in the VW van...fuckin 2 foot shift knob...had to double clutch up and down...went to watch planes land at FLL...I remember
he was like SLOW DOWN :what:

motor mounts hopefully going in today...some new side mirrors too...and a new ignition switch and actuator

took this lawnmower home to check it out...turns out it was beyond saving and bulk had already come that day...
used the trash to haul the trash back

Saturday I did throw a coat of wax on it...make it harder for the mud and rust to stick. @SamDoe1 Tried out the
amazon upward pressure washer attachment...that shit is here to stay...badass little addition to the arsenal...you can even
palm it and use it inside the fenders and it really works well.

Majofo 10-08-2019 10:21 AM

Did you sell the Yukon?

rockstar143 10-08-2019 10:23 AM

sir, yes, sir.
Honda Shadow gotta go too!

rockstar143 10-08-2019 10:24 AM

Everything the Yukon can do the Ody can do...maybe even better.
Felt good, every one of the cars in the fleet was basically fully sorted.
Went to a good home too...a guy that has access to a GM fleet maintence
guy that gave it the thumbs up. I want to buy my buddy's Dad's GMC Suburban
old school carbureted joint.
