ROAD AND TRACK - TRACKTEST GT-R vs. LP560 vs. GT2 vs. Z06

http://www.roadandtrack.com/article....rticle_id=6939

I guess the hype is real.

Cliffnotes:

Road and Track tested some of the world's best performance cars - M3, EVO, R8, Exige, GT-R, GT2, Z06, LP560, Viper ACR in 4 performance settings using 3 different professional drivers! Amazingly comprehensive test!

I don't want to spoil the results but..... the hype is real

The DBS should be #1...the tests were rigged.

Another triumph for the GT-R! The big surprise was the Viper ACR though.... WTF did it come from?

The term "all show and no go" immediately comes to mind.

The Scuderia would have wiped the floor with all of em.

I may be the only person on the planet that doesn't like Gallardos.

I appreciate them as high performance cars of course, but there are chips of wood in my backyard with more styling flair.

Yet I love the Murcielago, which is very similar styling-wise....so go figure. For some reason the Gallardo reminds me of those rubber doorstops you jam under heavy doors.

I guess this is a long way of saying it would be last place on my lottery purchase list.

I'm sure everyone can go on with their lives now that I've shared that.

You're not the only one...I'm not too fond of the Gallardo's styling (esp the front) but I think the Murcielago is, without question, the sexiest car ever made

The badnews to everyone else is that this is the first design of the GTR. They got room to improve. YIKES.

Yeah. It did.

True enough.

But lets see some results from other tracks before we conclude that the GT-R is an all round faster car.

And don't get me wrong, I'm a huge GT-R fan.

...and while I am a big fan of the Z06, I ALWAYS run the risk of needing the additional utility of a back seat. Thus for the same money, I would take the GT-R over the Z06.

I am not disdainful of the Z06 as its a monster of a performance machine that costs a fraction of the price as most of its contemporaries while being a fully capable daily driver if needed.

I just happen to like the GT-R more because its effectively in the same price range but adds AWD capabilities and some level of grand touring ability to the mix. (Caveat: The reported 'hard ride' might detract a bit from the GT-R's grand touring prowess.)

Admittedly, I do have a Japanese car bias which inclines me to opt for cars like the Accord or Altima instead of say a Fusion or Impala. Same deal for me at the GT-R/Corvette level as well.

I like the Z06 and the GT-R both. I think the Corvette looks a little better but the GT-R is more practical (and faster too)....

I'm not distainful towards the Z06 either its a great car. BUT, it's just another Corvette to me and I see so many Z06's and Vette's in general driving around it's nothing special. The GT-R is something unique, and despite the fact that some people find it ugly I think its quite attractive. It looks like an absolute beast going down the road and it's got the performance to back it up. Not to mention it's got 4 seats .

My family has owned mostly American cars so I don't have a bias towards domestic or import either.
