Whats up with dudes in beat up civics always tryin to race. Was almost home from getting a quote for 2 new bumpers when some cool dude in like a 92 civic coupe comes up behind me flashin lights and givin me the finger. Never seen this dude or car before and he is right on my butt. i drop it into second and jack my brakes and he almost hits me. He tries to go around and we're comin up on a stop sign. I with 2 cars in front of me. I stop and go straight and he starts to follow and run me off the road. So i just say screw it and rip outta there and he tries to chase after. Either way i just dont understand people. Especially people with civics!

 

Only solution really is to ignore them ... part jealousy, part stupidity on their part @__@

Sometimes it's hard to ignore these civic people... with their annoying as shit fartcans buzzing... sometimes I just drive into parking lots and wait for them to pass.

these jackasses get out of hand a lot. Today some idiot in a 2001 civic starts tailgating me on the highway. I'm in the MDX with a passenger, doing about 85 in the left lane. Well I move over and give him way, well he passes, slows down and starts brake checking me, I switch over, he switches over along side me, and I didn't even know this dude.
These idiots with civic deserve to be shot in the right foot. Two of them killed a person 's son that I know (not personally), and he had just gotten his license from the DMV with his dad, 1 of the 2 hit him head on and the other ran.

the best ways to avoid or counter these morons on the streets is to be kinda smart, you gotta use your brain. i major in psychology and you gotta do things totally opposite of what you would normally do. see, the thing thatll totally throw off or piss off these guys is not to give them the pleasure of imtimidating you or irritating you. so just do the opposite, just act stupid or like a jackass; when he looks at you at a stop thinking hes all tight, smile at him, wave at him, or even make funny faces. guarentee these guys will back off after being totally confused at what the hell just happened. hey, those guys may think your totally weird, but youre in your car totally laughing your ass off. try it! its fun. me, i just like to smile at them and some times i would make funny faces.

Reminds me of this guy that I ran into twice back when I had my supercharged 04 Civic Si hatch. This guy had a late 90's Civic. The first time I encountered him he kept pacing me, reving the crap out of his motor then gun it and then fall back and pace me again. I finally put down my window and nodded at him. This retard actually yells out the window "ALL MOTOR!!!" while doing a jerk off motion with his hand. I finally had it with him and just dropped it down and left him a few car lengths behind. A few weeks later I'm driving to church of all places and the same guy pulls up next to me and does the same thing, paces me and revs. I just look over at him, smile and give him the jerk off motion right back and say "ALL MOTOR!!!" and proceed to blow him away again. Ever since sharing those stories with my friends they love to give me what we refer to as "The All Motor" hand motion. At the very least I got some humor out of it even though he was obviously short a few chromosomes.

Well luckily you continued to escalate the situation by braking unnecessarily and unsafely, trying to instigate a collision. Cuz that would've helped.

Sounds like a great plan! Your "tactics" might work in a more controlled environment (ie: dealing with unfriendly co-workers at the office), and perhaps in relation to verbal arguments....although I still can't see how "making faces" and waving would help (smiling and not joining the battle, I understand). But it's probably best not to try this out while someone's driving a potential weapon (car) on public roads, in an already unsafe, unpredictable manner.

Truth is, you never know who you're dealing with or what they're capable of when pushed.

The best way to avoid trouble is to ignore them: don't engage, don't instigate, don't escalate the situation, and don't make eye contact; simply be on your way.

 

I put on a stupid smirk as they pass by or line up with me. You can't even imagine... especially that I drive something not as unassuming and quiet as an Acura. Who I really feel sorry for is Viper owners. On second thought... not really, but you know what I mean.

 

Just ran into a kid in a civic today. Riding up my ass and flashing me while I am crusing on the highway doing ~65. I move over when I can and he lines up next to me waiting for me to punch it. I didn't.

He then took off with all his many liters of an engine, assuming waiting for me to race him.

Asshats are always looking for something to do. And ignoring them works just fine....Or speed up and make them see tail (if it's safe to do so)...

that's another problem with better weather...they're will be more of these idiots driving around.

 

civics are the lowest line of Honda...so almost everyone can afford that. Also, some people actually go for civic's since they are light, cheap, and easy to mod. You'll get alot of immature racers in civic's.

There's a new batch of the Civic kids and they've upgraded to RSXs. I saw one this morning (base RSX btw) flying in and out of cars with super dark limo tint. About 15 minutes later I'm cruising along on the freeway and here he comes flying by me again this time doing about 90mph in the right lane. Funny how I was still ahead of him driving the speed limit. He must have some real crazy driving skillz in his RSX yo.
