repainting the car
My car is what.. 12 years old? It needs a new paint job.
At the most im going to have it for a couple more years, if it runs that long..
should I just get one of those paint job deals from maaco, some place like that, or should I just shell out the cash and get a decent paint job?

oh I dont want a color change, It just needs a new paint job
and there isnt going to be a resale value.. its a mitsubishi.. when this car dies, ill make more money parting it out to the other 3000gt owners trying to fix their broken car

Rach, If you're not going to have it for more then a couple of years, I would just drive it as is, and then part it out... Doesn't make sense to me to repaint a car that destined to be parted out...
Take the money you would spend on painting it, and save it for the next new shiney car you buy
Is it really that bad that you can't live with it ??

I had a similar dilemma with my last car... (ford tbird)... 110K miles, tranny going south, needed some body work, but it was paid off. I milked it w/o putting much money into it for another 26K miles. I had to do front rotors, brakes and a couple of other minor things, but somehow the tranny held together even tho' I would get a wierd vibration when it was going into or out of overdrive...
Worked out great, since I had about 3 years w/o car payments to save up for the downpayment on my CLS...
