Last car u had was Lexus so - GS, IS, LX,LS or Infiniti - M45, FX45, G35 Sedan/coupe
If I were you, i'd go for an LS430. Awesome car, my parents drive one. Excellent build quality and it holds good value.

I suppose it breaks your specified budget and German car phobia but you need to own a 911 before your car list ends. The 997 is the sublime example of the "ass engined Nazi slot car". In reality Porsches are fairly reliable and if you are a driving fool, to quote some folks that know what they are talking about regarding the 911 "If you can you must".
If you can't fathom a German car and want the "softer" approach the RL is a bloody bargain right now, they can't get them off the lots and are "giving" them away. The M is a better choice but isn't as good of a bargain since it is relatively hot. The GS isn't a drivers car.
If you don't need the room and want to keep the budget and add a real drivers car to the list get down to your local Bavarian car pusher and order up a 06 M3 CS, while not a 997 it will add some spice to the list and I promise you will wake up in the morning thinking about driving.

Don't go 7-series/S-class/LS if you intend on having a pulse much longer.
