Rear tires bald, but front tires fine?
So my friend has an RSX base model. Hehas about 36,000 miles on 'em. We looked @ his tires yesterday while washing his car, and his back tires are COMPLETELY bald. I'm talkin' like, fisher price plastic wheel smooth. His front wheels hoever, got a decent amount of tread on them still. Pretty much faded, but considerably better shape than the rears.
He's pretty good about aligning, but says he hasn't rotated them. Could this be a reason?
I found it really weird, caus eht RSX is a FWD car...
Any possible xplanations?
Thanks.

tire rotation every 7.5k miles, that means your friend has missed out on nearly 5 rotations!
If you think about it, a FWD car with the rear wheels dragging for 36k miles and *no pivoting*, how else would they be sunshine?
Whereas the front wheels have pivoting and can allow the wear to be distributed somewhat more evenly but not much.
my guess on the tread wear pattern
fronts: wear on mostly outside, inside is ok. (hence the fade)
rears: wear on mostly inside, outside is ok. (hence the baldness on the inside)
Also depends a lot on proper tire pressure inflation too recommended by load.
