Rant: Dumbarse Salesman
Today me and dad went to steven's creek honda to test drive an accord and civic.
We were greeted by this chinese salesman. We asked to test drive the accord
manuel but he said they didnt have one on the lot. THen we walked to the civics, i
asked if i can test drive this 07 ex civic. THe sales man asked if we were going to
buy it today and my dad said no because were not ready. So he said we cant test
drive it because its not even the car you want and your not buying it today. Then
he gave some bs about people wanting low mileage cars. WTF, 1-2 miles is not
gonna hurt it. Man, im so pissed because of this idiot, we drove 45(90 round trip)
miles to talk with this guy because he had a deal on some cars from a newspaper
add.
cliffs: drove 45 miles to see accord and civic and the salesman didnt let us drive either because it wasnt the exact model we wanted and we werent buying it today.
is there a site i can give ratings to dealers? stay away from stevens creek, their rude and lousy

1. Don't bother trying to get the car in the newspaper. Next time, before you drive 45 miles, know that the car in the ad is already sold by the time you read the newspaper (even if you get there before the dealership opens)
2. Ya he was a jerk, but you weren't going to buy the civic -- you were looking for an accord; so in a way he made a decision not to waste his time on you. Next time, ask to drive an automatic (so you get an idea of what an accord is like), and then you can ask to drive the civic (to get an idea of what a honda manual is like).
3. You live in san fran and the closest honda dealership was 45 miles away? If not, I suggest you first test drive the cars at the closest dealerships, then worry about trying to find a deal.

Still have it too, its been great.
But I agree that the other guy figured that you were a 19 year old kid and didn't want to waste his time.

never trust the salesmen.
I arrived with a sign and drive lease newspaper deal for a loaded XC90 and the sales guy laughed at it.
I laughed when I drove off the car with the same deal after discussing with the sales manager.

All salesmen are pawns. If they won't work with you talk to the manager, or go to another dealer.

Damn, that sucks. But there will always be a better salesman. Today, I went to test drive a WRX Impreza Wagon. The salesman didn't hesitate, made a copy of the license and off we went. He told me to gun it a few times. Pretty cool salesman, especially since I was alone without my parents.

Subaru salesmen usually are pretty chill, being that most of them own one themselves. I went to test drive the Legacy GT Spec-B before I got my TSX, and he let me bash on the car. Great guy, great socializer to make you feel better in the car, and possibly the greatest salesmen I ran into so far.

I would have told the salesman there was no way they didn't have a SINGLE accord in a HONDA parking lot to test drive............

Maybe it was because I was young (mid 20s at the time), but some of the dealerships will definitely do it.

You have to have your social to run a credit check. There is no getting around that. So unless you willingly gave them it before your test drive I doubt they ran it. If they did I'd love to know how!

They had my credit info using only the info on my DL.

OP: Please report this dealership to American Honda. What kind of an assbag did you deal with. I've test driven multiple cars at multiple dealerships and have never encountered such a salesman. Maybe I've just been lucky or haven't test driven enough cars.

One on the right for me
You will run into nice salespersons and not so nice salespersons. Not that this has anything to do with their cars, but the BMW salespersons are usually the biggest dicks.
I stopped by a Ford dealership to look at the GT Mustang, told the salesman I didn't want to buy. He said he was bored and wanted to go for a test drive. I didn't have a problem with that.
Other times I haven't been able to get into the car - though I think that was more to the guy being busy as shit than anything else. Anyway, don't get all pissed off over one experience.
And why did you drive 45 miles? If you answered that I missed the post.

The first thing you should have done after that guy pulled that shit, is ask to talk to a sales manager, tell them you just drove the long distance and now even if you were to buy the car tomorrow, you wouldn't buy from them because of the ignorance of that salesman. Gaurenteed, the manager would go out of his way to make it up for you on the spot knowing they could lose a POTENTIAL sale.
the salesman was probably just being a dick because you already said you weren't buying today and he didn't want to waste his time on that. which is stupid if you ask me. a potential sale is a potential sale.
